How many more Christmas Carols are we going to get?
Is there a ban on adapting other festive tales?

The fact it’s at the Elizabeth Hall makes me immediately not care.

Pre-sale now on. Most seats £79 - £131, no reduced-price previews as far as I can see.
I'd like to see this but that's too costly for me. I remember back in 2016 when Million Dollar Quartet was at the Southbank and initial pricing was also very high but we eventually saw it at around £15 per ticket for seats near the front of the stalls so hopefully there'll be some deals on this.

I’m gonna start by saying I loooooove Dolly. Always have, always will. But this tested my love lol. It was just so bad. About 30 minutes into it, I honestly thought it was a spoof on shows like Waiting For Guffman because some of those lyrics (“ “We love hope and we love wishin’, It’s so good and it’s so Christian”) we’re beyond awful.
The audience seemed to have a good time though, but OOF - that was rough.

I also love Dolly and agree that it wasn’t great.. but Sarah O’Connor has such a beautiful voice. Wow! Wish she’d had a bigger role.

Oh no! After the double whammy of HEX and MANDELA - both dreadful - I don't know if I can take another bad musical in such quick succession ..... :-)

Dreadful might be too strong a word - for me at least! I didn't think it was offensively bad, but it did come across very 'TV special'. And very bloated.
Then again if you don't expect it to be any more than a bit of harmless Christmas fun then you'll probably enjoy it!

Does anyone know of any offers for this? I had naively assumed it wouldn't be a big seller and there would be discounts, now prices seem to be through the roof.

I saw this this afternoon and while it isn't the best show around, it was an enjoyable afternoon at the theatre. Completely sold out, I think due to Dolly's name. The audience seemed to enjoy it. A nice change from the numerous traditional Christmas Carols currently in London

I think Elaine Paige played a song from it last week, it sounded quite fun.

Kind of really want to see it now but not at £50 for the cheapest seats.

Prices for remaining performances are now down to what I consider a reasonable level - from £28.50 on rail strike days when there's currently huge availability - but I rely 99% on the trains.
Most current deals are cheaper from ticket agencies than booking direct with the venue, which also charges a £3.50 booking fee. I got Front Stalls for Sunday 1st for £43.50 all in.

I've been to the theatre just over 200 times in 2022 and enjoyed all but three of the shows. About £6000 very well spent.
