Fantastic voices, great performance, but they are all professionals . Almost all of the appearing current in West end productions, and some well known names too. Should they be on BGT? I thought it was a show for unknowns.

I was thinking the same hasn't Sophie Ellis just recently left Wicked. But we had Rachel Wooding on this a couple of years back but she had taken time away to have a family. Also we got Kerry Ellis on the Voice a few years back when she was recording with a member of Queen.
They were excellent as we expected and if some were between shows fair enough but should they really be on BGT?
But if they toured I'm sure a lot of us would like to see them live

Luke and Mared are both in Les Mis at the moment, with Luke alternating JVJ (he does the Thursday performances if anyone wants to go see him) and Mared is 2nd cover Eponine. Steffan I believe is currently in The Corn is Green?

They have done a lot of YouTube stuff and have toured overseas representing Wales.
It is hard to justify them being part of what used to be a place for undiscovered talent that can't get a break in the industry.
But it is also clear that that is a myth and existing successful acts are chased to appear

Steffan is a presenter on S4C and is quite well known in Wales. Sophie Evans was one of the Dorothy’s, plus had appeared in Wicked as has Samantha Thomas, I think. Mared as well as currently appearing in Les Mis has an album out and is well known on the Welsh music scene.

In all fairness quite a lot of the acts are professional artists and have had quite successful careers and in some episodes the judges have been filmed going to people and offering them an audition. So there is nothing different with this group being in the show. Also the producers push the public towards the act they want to win so the whole competition is a bit of a farce anyway

I meant Sophie Evans not Sophie Ellis, I was thinking ahead about Kerry Ellis when I typed it.

There’s a very small discussion on it in the “what’s on tv” thread in the general chat section.

Loren Aldred was on the other week , the singer of Never Enogh from Greatest Showman so there are other experienced acts on.

There was a piece in the press over the weekend about this (not specifically referencing WOTW), which I regret I'm unable to find again, and the statement from the producers was essentially along the lines of "we've never said explicitly it's for undiscovered talent, and lots of professional performers have had a miserable two years, so it's not up to us to define who participates."

I saw an article online discussing the fact that Tom Hier had appeared on the BBC1 programme which has Amanda Holden as a judge. I’ve forgotten the name of the programme but it’s the one where the judges have to work out if the contestant is a genuine singer. Obviously AH didn’t recognise him!

Tom’s episode was one of the few episodes where I could immediately pick someone as being a good singer because I recognised him from Bare at The Vaults.

Mared is very talented. Fantastic voice and also has her own album out. She writes her own material.

I don’t watch Britain’s Got Talent but from looking on Wikipedia they’re not listed as one of the acts in the semi-finals. Did they not get through?

They couldn't not be on really as they were so great in their audition. Best of luck for tonight.
