I'm sure you fully understood my comment. 😀 Was hoping I had misunderstood your flippancy about child safety 🤷🏻♀️

Short answer - no. It's not actually an event marketed at kids and they certainly won't want unaccompanied children attending. I'm sure there's a minimum age limit. No one is going to pay for DBS checks in this instance. They’re allowing children 14+ to attend on their own. There’s no age limit, they even allow under 5s in without a ticket. I think it’s very much an all ages event. Right but it’s hardly sponsored by CBeebies. It’s not actually aimed at children themselves so it can’t really be considered an event /for/ children. Sure they can and will go, just like they go to comic con, but the content is created especially for them with the expectation they’ll make up most of the attendees. Young children will need to be accompanied by adults, who will essentially be responsible for them. Also, they don’t DBS check ushers at west end theatres. So not sure why you’d expect them to do it for this event.

Your comments are totally ridiculous. So I presume you also feel that any adult male attending a musical such as Frozen, which is full of kids, should be checked or not allowed to go? Where do you draw the line?

Get lost with your false equivalence, a male attending a musical is not the same as a volunteer at an event who is *in a position of authority* where there are unaccompanied children. It’s frankly odd that you don’t see this as an issue.

So now I'm getting e-mails detailing the workshops and it appears theres extra costs for attending those. I might have misread the original details but I didn't realise they were going to charge extra for attending some of the events.

These events are all about rinsing as much as possible on “extras”. It’s possible to wander around looking at stalls and such, but it’s like going to a funfair, you usually have to “pay per experience”.

Yes, the VIP tickets just seem to give early entry to booking the extras.

Call me sceptical but does it not seem a tad odd that they announced the event as “completely sold out” in May.. yet today I can put 40 tickets in my basket? Good to know the event will be jam packed! 🙄

I think even the doomsters must now admit that the line up has become rather impressive.
Understudies everywhere could be quite busy that weekend.

Understudies everywhere could be quite busy that weekend. A lot of the guests though will only be there for an hour or two. Everyone lined up for a photo poised with their receipts for their £50 photo opportunity, special guest waiting inside, customer moves onto the podium near guest, camera flashes, customer moves on, next photo. They can get 10 people a minute through at some of these conventions. Pretty easy for the currently working guests to fit this around their theatre commitments, or miss one performance at the most. There are enough guests who aren't associated with a current production to fill the rest of the time. With that said, I'm keen to see a schedule so I can work out which covers I can see on that weekend.

Can we have some actual names please?
Don’t worry if they don’t show up nobody will be surprised or hold you to it but go ahead and tempt us with the fabulosity of it all. No recriminations.

You might end up with all or none of them.

The disclaimer is no different from any gala/charity concert you go to and, I suppose you could say, it's the same for most musicals or plays that you see in the theatre, no actor is guaranteed for that night.

Having looked at the schedules now they've finally been released, there's virtually nothing there that would interest me and the ones that do are likely to be the most well attended. Ah well..I'll probably just go along for the Saturday now as I've already paid for the ticket.

Apparently performer told them they can’t attend anymore but they are still advertising her workshop

I will be there on the Saturday.
Other than my entrance into the event, I have nothing booked, and at this stage, don't want to.
Everybody has seen what I look like from my profile pic.
If you see me wondering around with a white ABBA Tote bag, feel free to say hello- Tryst me, you'll recognise me before I recognise you.

There will be no trysts at the ExCel Centre, thank you very much anthony40. It's not that kind of place. 🙂

You could still go to a workshop with "one of the most sort after talents in musical theatre"... :/ If I were going, I'd probably go and see Louise Dearman, but I'm not sure she'd be expecting people to talk about Friday Night is Music Night. (I have also seen her in Wicked and Judy.)

This all sounds hideous.
A celebration of Cameron M?
Nope.

I was interested in this at first, but it feels far less like a convention for musical theatre fans and more like a summer school for young people looking to get into performing arts training.

I doubt I'm going but I think it looks a pretty good line up? It seems perfectly convention like to me? Panels. Meet & Greets. Demonstrations. Workshops. Q&A's. Performances. Show previews. Opening & Closing Ceremonies. Most if not all the normal convention aspects are there. I'm not sure what else they could do. Plus the line up of theatre stars and shows is pretty good.
