It's all hiperthetical really as Charlie is currently in Mary Poppins so I was just carrying on with the fun of suggesting People for various shows. But Charlie looks like he is about 14 years old with that cheeky smile.

I reckon that Mr Stemp will be lined up for the role of Bobby in Crazy for You at Chichester

Down due to cookies presumably knowing I am reading this newsies thread I seem to be getting lots of newsies YouTube clips being recommended.
Know Broadway shows are maxed up with cast but this seems to have a small platoon of cast members. If the cast bows routine are anything to go by it's a very energetic show.

Just been watching some clips on YouTube of Newsies. This, surely is going to be the biggest dance heavy musical since 42nd Street.

'Now for the very first time, audiences in the UK have a chance to enjoy the thrill of one of the biggest Broadway hits of recent years. In an innovative and brand new immersive production ‘in the round’ at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, theatregoers will be thrust right inside the action as the newsies dance, sing, jump and fly around the streets of a booming 19th century New York City.'
There's also someone in charge of 'performer flying', so that sounds fun. In related news, it's remarkably easy to access the parts of the Newsies announcement website they don't want you to see yet. No cast, performance dates or prices, but full list of creatives.

I would say there were more dance routines in 42nd Street than Anything Goes. I would agree, but Anything Goes is a musical which lives or dies by its dancing in the key numbers and is more recent than 42nd Street.

Just been watching some clips on YouTube of Newsies. This, surely is going to be the biggest dance heavy musical since 42nd Street. Only problem watching the clips of the original Broadway cast is that it's raising expectations very high, with Jeremy jordan vocals and the absolute full throttle dancing the UK version will have a lot to live up to. You can rent the recording of the Broadway show from YouTube or Amazon but as well YouTube seems to have prompted several complete shows from various stage productions as well as the seemly endless video clips promos/ blogs the cast did. Does show when you have a young tech savvy cast who completely adore the show they are in they will willing do endless social media to promote and this mainly from a decade ago.

I can see this working well in the round. Limits any potential to do the 'rounds' on a tour post-London though.

I like in the round staging (although some folk believe it's a vicious circle!)

Would have preferred West End venue but it was on the cards it was going to Wembley so better than not having the show at all.

I'm still intrigued by the 'performer flying' job. Who is flying?!

The WhatsOnStage stage article says it opens end of November. The Joseph tour finishes end of October.
Perfect.

Having it staged in the round has certainly piqued my interest, and it sounds like they're going to try and do something similar ala In The Heights with some immersive staging too.

I'm still intrigued by the 'performer flying' job. Who is flying?! Maybe its a bit like actor-muso and due to the budget restraints the actors are also manning the fly's bringing in/out the set.

I can't decide if this flying thing sounds great or incredibly gimmicky. There is no point in the show where I can imagine flying being integrated without it feeling at odds with the content. But it's in their paragraph about the show so it doesn't seem like something they're likely to cut in previews if it doesn't work (like Raven flying in BooH). And I very much worry that it might not work.

Flying can mean many things though can’t it. I expect Elphaba going up on that lift is classified as “flying”. It might just be a couple of very big leaps, or someone jumping off something whilst supported by a wire. I mean who knows but doubt we’ll be seeing anything akin to Peter Pan

Ah… I didn’t see that bit. Peter Pan it is then!
Does flying like that actually fit into the story? (I haven’t seen it)

There's a stage show within the show which I suppose could have flying within in if they were desperate to include it? But it would be entirely pointless and it wouldn't be the newsies flying in that case. Unless they're going to levitate some nuns down from the ceiling, I genuinely have no idea what they've got planned.

Sets, set changes and cast entrances and exits using flying can be wonderful. it may not be Peter Panesque just a change to the usual trucks and backdrops

A regional theatre in the US, Hale Centre Theatre, did a production of Newsies in the round and it looks quite good!
