A comedy legend has left us.
86 is a pretty decent age and he leaves a legacy of great comic writing and performing

I'm so sad, he has brought me so many laughs over the years. One of the greatest gag tellers in the world. You only have to look at the outpouring of love and affection from all the comedians today to get the measure of the man. Extraordinarily kind.

Pretty much knew and worked with everyone. Still active up to the end. I'm surprised he hadn't filmed his own tribute as when any comedy star of note died Barry was nearly always asked to film a tribute.

A man driving down a country lane runs over a cockerel. He goes to the farmhouse and knocks on the door. A woman opens it and he says: “I appear to have killed your cockerel. I’d like to replace him.’ She replies: “Please yourself, the hens are round the back.”’

A man went into a cake shop and asked the owner “Do you sell wasps?” “No” says the owner “it’s a cake shop why would you think that?” “Because there’s one in the window”

Just looked at Tall Paul's Link. The Episode of the Good Old Days not only includes Barry but also John Inman and Barry Howard in their drag/ugly sister double act.

I highly recommend the film Barry co-wrote, Bloodbath at the House of Death. It stars Kenny Everett and Pamela Stephenson with a whole host of familiar faces. It's on Netflix and it's the most I've laughed at a film for ages.

Very well worth a listen to these podcasts... Now, Where Were We? is the show that Barry Cryer has been waiting 86 years to make! Alongside his son, actor and writer Bob Cryer, Barry's booked a room at a favourite London pub, called up a bunch of famous pals he's not seen since lockdown began, and he's invited them down for a pint and a proper catch-up. This is Barry at his storytelling best, in his natural habitat, doing what he’s done for decades: making us laugh. www.podcastandradio.co.uk/podcast/now-where-were-we-with-barry-cryer-and-bob-cryer/
