The Fringe is back, running 5-29 August 2022!
Show registrations open on 7 February, with on-sale dates set for 3 March, 7 April and 5 May, prior to the printed programme launch on 9 June.
Who's Edinburgh bound this summer for the 75th anniversary festival and first full-scale Fringe for three years?

Fingers crossed, I have my hotel booked. Not quite sure how I'll feel about some of the sweaty, crowded, unventilated rooms I've been in over the years, but I'm hopeful that I'll feel more secure by the time August comes around.

This a good reminder that I need to book my accommodation for this year. I went last year but it wasn't the same.

Sadly I'm having to opt out again this year, thanks to a number of factors. Really hope it's a stunning return to form and I can get back in 2023.

Ashamed to say I'd forgotten all about it and that it existed. Hopefully next year...

The "big four"'s website EdFest.com has been launched for 2022 but interestingly now features another 4 of the major venues as well.
If they also don't charge booking fees it will be a cheaper alternative to the offical Edfringe website and cover most of the shows that people book.

It has just be revealed there won't be an offical fringe app this year. This is an absolutely bizarre decision by the fringe society and it appears one they have sat on since December.

For anyone who can't make it up, there's a streaming service called Nextup who are streaming some of the performances. We've been members for a few months and at £30 for a year of comedy it's a bit if a steal !! Full details here: nextupcomedy.com/edfringe/

Half Price Hut has been canned as well Geee so many of the smaller acts will suffer as a result of this. I'd say a good 40-60% of my Fringe shows in the last few visits were last minute app/hut bookings. Sometimes buying tickets via the app whilst queueing up for said event. There is a petition to rectify this, but I doubt with this little time left, nothing will happen.

Complete lack of transparency: to only confirm the lack of app to the acts a month before the festival when they knew in December (apparently) is pathetic

It may be 7% of users but I wonder what it is by percentage of ticket sales, during the festival. Also the website has been very slow for me recently so that isn't in great shape either.

The Fringe Society have treated acts with so much disdain this year I honestly think that every act should boycott next year. What could they do if everybody just refused to pay the registration fee and mounted shows anyway? That is after all the central ethos of the Fringe. To take the fee then announce, actually not even announce, casually let slip in a Twitter reply, that there's no app is absolutely disgusting, not to mention taking away the half price hut.

With the Fringe just over a week away, what are people most looking forward to? My spreadsheet is mostly comedy, with a few magic shows like the great Pete Firman and Caspar Thomas for some variety, the only play I've got down is Eh Up, Me Old Flowers: The Charlie Williams Story at Pleasance.

Looking through the programme and for the first time ever I can say nothing inspires me to buy a ticket. Hopefully word of mouth brings up a few gems, but there's very little that's new or fresh.

I have about 17 plays booked so far. Haven't been there for decades and may never go back so splurging out as much as possible. Particularly looking forward to the adaptation/staging of Nick Cave's "Murder Ballads".
