Great performances. I agree with others about the play itself. The last ten minutes were terrific. It has piqued my interest in both of these men though. Currently watching the Andy Warhol Diaries on Netflix.
I caught the Wednesday matinee of this. Agree with most of above about the play - which was ho-hum, but liked the central two performances a lot (really glad to have caught Jeremy Pope) and the set design. As others have said, it drove me to the Warhol diaries on Netflix. The DJ set drove Mr. F to despair but it would do.
With all the reports of wild or inconsiderate behaviour in other theatres - gotta say no problems at all at this performance (perhaps as you might expect with a mid-week matinee for a show like this.)
Just spotted on Twitter that this is moving to Broadway
This must be what the person from the Manhattan Theatre Club’s subscription office was referring to when he called me a couple of weeks ago to ask why I haven’t renewed my subscription for next season. I told him I wasn’t going to plunk down several hundred dollars for a three-play subscription when the three plays they’ll be doing were identified only as The Cost of Living, Play #2, and Play #3. He said an announcement of “something very exciting” for Play #2 was imminent, and he would call me back as soon as it was official. I’m expecting my phone to ring any minute.
