As a New York event, shouldn't this be in the International board, rather than getting up the hopes of everyone by putting it in the Musicals board which I've been led to believe is for discussion of UK productions?

This is great! Sunday in the Park with George is rapidly becoming my all time favourite musical, for so many reasons.
An international star such as Gyllenhaal can only bring more publicity to this truly moving, wonderful piece of musical theatre.
Whilst I appreciate it's a one night event only, I hope that vocally he can bring justice to George.
Why hasn't he been cast in a filmed musical as yet I wonder?

He has a very pleasant voice, if this video of him doing A Whole New World with Sean Hayes and James Corden during an ad break of the Tony Awards is anything to go by. Obviously it doesn't show much as he was put on the spot, but I think he has quite a voice hidden there!

What are the chances of a cast recording and cinema broadcast?

A rave from the New York Times: www.nytimes.com/2016/10/26/theater/review-jake-gyllenhaal-shines-in-a-joyous-sunday-in-the-park-with-george.html?_r=0And one from the Hollywood Reporter: www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/sunday-park-george-941158And one from Deadline: deadline.com/2016/10/jake-gyllenhaal-sunday-in-the-park-with-george-review-1201843154/And one from me: This was THE Theatrical Event of my year -- and I doubt anything will come along to challenge it for the foreseeable future. Going in, I had high hopes, but tried to temper my enthusiasm. Within minutes of the start, however, it became clear that it was going to far exceed my expectations. By the end, after hearing this rapturous score performed so magnificently, I was left (as were much of the audience) weeping at the sheer beauty of the experience. And Jake... Jake! OMG, Jake! (Who knew?) Clips on YouTube (like the one above, or of him in the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS concert last year) showed that he could carry a tune. But Seymour is one thing -- heck, even I can do a passable Seymour -- but George is on a whole 'nother level entirely. We're talking Stephen Sondheim. We're talking Mandy Patinkin. And now we're talking Jake Gyllenhaal! (Who knew?) You can apply pretty much any superlative you want to his performance. The whole night was so magical, so wonderful, so ineffably beautiful, that when I got back to my hotel room, I logged on and bought tickets to the Wednesday matinee. And, as glorious as it had been from the balcony on Monday night, it was absolutely sublime from the 6th row center!

I would LOVE to see this but after my NYC trip in January I won't be able to go back before May at the earliest (got a week in Shanghai booked for April already). Ah well, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. A West End transfer would be a dream.

Bumping this because I am going to book it for when I am in NYC in April. Not loving the ticket prices, so I am going to (for a rare time in my life) buy top level seats and hope I can see alright. Seems a small theatre though so should be fine. Why oh why isn't there a TheatreMonkey equivalent for Broadway to alleviate my seat choice fears (if there is one does anyone care to tell me what it is ).

Wouldn't help you in this case, the Hudson Theatre has just been refurbished after a long period of not operating as a Broadway theatre. But hopefully that means they've been able to bear sight lines and contemporary needs in mind and you'll be absolutely fine!

This is truly one of my favourite shows and and gutted that I don't have the funds to fly across and see it. George must be such a difficult and complex character to bring to life.
