There has only ever been one all male final and Chigs is on the ascendant. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see a Chigs, Crystelle and Jurgen final, with Guiseppe getting knocked out next week. I love guiseppe, so I will riot, but I feel like he is waning, and the show loves a journey like Chigs’.

Everyone should be proud of themselves for getting onto the show in the first place. I do feel like the semi final is the hardest place to fall though 🙁

I would have gone for a non elimination

I would have gone for a non elimination Agreed! Especially given that on previous episodes they have taken the bakers whole series into consideration.

This. What a semi final. Wow, just wow!! Big Jurgen fan but it was the correct decision. Standard of baking is very high from those that have got to the latter stages of the competition

I've only just watched it and I was fully expecting them to say no one was going home. Quite a shock.

I wasn't sure why people were shocked- Jurgen only smashed 1 challenge (Technical), the others all smashed at least 2 didn't they? I'm glad Chigs and Crystelle got through, they've had more significant journeys, especially Chigs.

Last week Lizzie was sent home rather than Crystelle because of her performance over the series.
This week Jurgen was sent home and his performance over the series was ignored.
It was pretty close between him and Giuseppe as to who had not had the best week. Handshake or not, Giuseppe was not at his best.
I know they usually judge on a week by week basis but they do ignore that when it suits.
I can fully understand the dismay expressed about the strongest Baker thus far not making the final. It feels fair to some and unfair to others.
The final will be weaker without Jurgen. It could easily be a 4 person final.
Chigs for the win I say.

In the minority here but I think it would have been a bit of a cop-out if they’d just put everyone through, though not sure Jurgen should have been the one to go. Had a look on wikipedia and the only time anyone hasn’t been eliminated has been if someone’s been taken ill, more common to have double eliminations.

Just now in Masterchef the Professionals they had three brilliant chefs in one round and they sent them all through. It was so much fairer especially because the standard varies between the cohorts. Of course many more participants and rounds but seemed so much more satisfying for the viewers.

A very tense final! I loved the Mad Hatter’s theme.
What did we all think?

Not too unhappy at the result.
Was not a spectacular finale in terms of quality
And who really knows what a Belgian Bun is? Certainly doubt that anyone from Bruges or Bruxelles would have recognised them.

It was a good result - it felt fair. We'd have been happy seeing any of them win but we were shouting 'take them out! Nooo!' as we watched Giuseppe's buns burn. And no, I have never heard of a Belgian bun either.

I was Team Chigs but they were all worthy winners this year. Slightly underwhelming challenges for a final though!

The people who don’t know what a Belgian Bun is obviously don’t go to Greggs enough.

I was pleased with the result. I thought Giuseppe produced a great showstopper and has been the most consistent baker out of the finalists. I always enjoy the little catch up clips of the other bakers at the end of the episode.

I was happy with the result although I was secretly hoping Chigs would win as every week he has got better and better and turned I to a great baker. I am not a fan of Crystelle as the way I judge is by saying to myself "would I like to eat that?" and its usually No with her recipes. I don't really like all the spices she uses and some of her ingredients. As for the Belgium buns I was surprised none of them had heard of them. They are a standard product in most bakeries. Also I think they had extra help as the instructions were very vague like "make the buns" but they all seemed to know straight away that they needed to make a dough rather than a cake mix.

Team Giuseppe here. A good Bake Off winner. Standard was a little poor in the final after the quarters and semi finals. Put it down to nerves, but a very enjoyable series
