I'd heartily recommend the new whodunnit, The Appeal, by Janice Hallett, a beautifully observed, laugh out funny but dark murder mystery set in an amateur theatre group struggling to put on All My Sons. Cleverly written and structured with every character easily recogniseable.

Another thumbs up overall from me. I did slightly tire of the format in which it is written before the end but the first half was cracking. The minute taking of the committee meeting is laugh-out-loud funny. Recommended!

yep, the taking of the minutes was genius, and there are a lot of peripatetic WTF moments where things change. I'm sure it will be filmed for TV soon, and done quite literally, without the narrative twist. but a hugely satisfying read, and well observed, though i did question all My Sons starting at 8.00 and ending at 10.10 - it's longer than that isn't it? Maybe the Fairview Players took it at speed or cut out bits. And the glaring omission in the review of the play made me laugh.
