Great to have them back.
Serenade for Music by Vaughan Williams was a lovely choice. Would have preferred the original setting for 16 voices but understand why they tweaked it

I see it's the musical theatre prom tonight (but not showing on TV until next Saturday).
Lots of availability for £7 tickets, both seating and standing. Anyone attending?

Last Night already...
A mixed bag. Loved the Accordion piece that was joyous. The Ravel was charming. The new piece Mother was surprisingly engaging - will certainly seek out more of her music.
But Stuart Skelton was not on top form. I know the Prize Song is challenging but he just lost control of his instrument and it was painful to hear his struggle. He knew he was singing badly but could not bring it back.
Let's hope the second half is better for him.

The aerial shots of London are magnificent.

Much to enjoy in the second half. Again the two accordion pieces were wonderful. Skelton sang the Peter Allen with a lot of panache.
Some unusual choices for folk songs from the four nations. Some just didn't work.
Was still joyous to see the audience enjoying music so enthusiastically

Mother was good and the accordionist was just wow. Great to have it back on form after the silly business last year of ditching Rule Britania.

Mother was good and the accordionist was just wow. Great to have it back on form after the silly business last year of ditching Rule Britania. We had members night at the local brewery last night and it was proms in the park playing very loudly when I got home. Apparently I shouted out the window when rule brittania was playing an encore, 'will you please be quiet assorted racists and gammonistas!!'
