And Cheryl wasn't trolling us? This knows what it is (nonsense) and plays to it - if people are daft enough to give it money, good luck to them 😂 I agree, I'm not a fan of the show but if the alternative is a dark theatre which no doubt people would moan about and say the West End was in crisis, I'd go for 2.22 any day.

Stacey Dooley as Jenny. Get ready for lots of sympathetic nodding . I assumed this was a joke post, like the ones that went before. What must jobbing actresses who would jump at the chance for a West End role be thinking when they see casting like this?

2:22 as we've already highlighted is a rubbish play. It would not be running if it wasn't for celebs. Jobbing West End actresses won't get this gig because this gig doesn't exist without famous people in it...

Whilst true that the show largely relies on celebrity casting, there are at least plenty of celebrities who are actors. I mean there must be one or two well-known soap actresses around who'd happily do it? It would appeal to the same demographic.

Stacey won Strictly and danced on that tour so her performing background is slightly there but no acting credits I'm aware of. Cheryl was likewise. Lily Allen had done bits of acting and is from an acting family. Laura Whitmore had done the one Peter James play. Giovanna had done some acting training and been in a couple of stage roles despite being best known on here as CHF's sister in law.
What will we get next Alison Hammond in a gender neutal casting of Othello. Hugh Edwards, Philip Schofield and Matt Hancock in Art?

Seann Walsh is in the new tour of 'Art' so you're not so far off in suggesting a dream cast of secretive wick-dippers!

People forget this is show business, not show charity. Producers pick people who they think can put bums on seats although personally I can't see Stacey Dooley being a huge draw to audiences.

Cast also includes Molly Windsor who was a BAFTA winner a few years ago so might be worth seeing on stage. As regards Art, people were saying at "Drop the Dead Donkey" last week they had seen Stephen Tompkinsn in Art and wondering who would be in the cast this time around. With the right cast changes that could be a good West End runner again as it freshened up every 3 months and wasn't a large open ended commitment.

That's my point though. Yes they want a "name", ok fair enough, I get it. But there are plenty of "names" who are actors.

Is this a record for the number of West End theatres that a single production has used?

Is this a record for the number of West End theatres that a single production has used? I would have to check but I recall Bill Kenwright's production of An Ideal Husband kept popping up in different houses a lot also. Not as many as this though.

Is this a record for the number of West End theatres that a single production has used? Maybe this will go into the Drury Lane when “Frozen” ends.

What you can say about Stacey Dooley is it's not nepotism. She is a grafter and she has done it against the odds :

Lots of people are grafters. It doesn’t give most of them a free pass into acting.

Stacey working at Luton Airport with her Essex accent brings back Lorraine Chase memories. I agree that Stacey has worked hard and was really good on Strictly but that doesn't mean she can act.

I despair with producers that employ someone that is missing shows and quite a lot of shows at the beginning of a run!
Stacey Dooley is not performing 28 May - 9 June 2024

Stacey working at Luton Airport with her Essex accent The reason she worked at the airport is because she was born and bred in Luton... in Bedfordshire.

Donna Air? Wow. Blast from the past. Don’t think I’ve seen her in anything since Byker Grove.

Joe McFadden and Donna Air will be in the Gielgud cast. We are halfway towards my prediction towards a cast being made up solely of Strictly winners!

I think the last theatre Donna did was the Vagina Monologues in the early 2000's.
As Alice said a Strictly winners cast is nearly there as apart from the Dooley and Joe we have Jay McGuiness doing the show on tour. Kara Tointon is the right age for either female role so she'd be the ideal 4th cast member. But with the way they cast this show we might get the shrill tones of Abbey Clancy.
