Any chance of this transferring into town or am I gonna have to haul myself to Chichester? Don't forget they are streaming it on selective dates in August Aah, streaming just doesn't do it for me unfortunately.

I hope this transfers, as personal circumstances mean a trip to Chichester, lovely as it would be, is out of the question right now, and I'd rather see it in a theatre than streamed. South Pacific is the weak link for me in the R&H cannon, but it's also the only one of the big shows I've not seen on stage, and I'd like to give it a proper chance. I've always felt like the score had a lot of semi-filler (songs like There is Nothing Like a Dame, Bloody Mary and I'm Gonna Wash That Man... don't really do it for me, and seem to exist purely to have show-piece numbers to cover the fact there's not much plot there.) I also find the score lacks any truly spine-tingling moments. I know Some Enchanted Evening is a classic but to me it's nowhere near the likes of If I Loved You, Something Wonderful, Edelweiss and others. But maybe if I saw a really great production on stage I'd be won over! A really great production and the “You’ve Got To Be Carefully Taught/This Nearly Was Mine” sequence should be sufficient to win you over. That is by far my favourite bit of the score, so it could well do!

Any seating advice for this one? Wanting to go cheaper rather than the more expensive seats. Options are Side stalls at £18 or same price on the curving part of the balcony (row U)

Mark, the £18 side stalls should be fine. I got a £10 ticket for the front row last week and didn’t have any major issues sitting there. I’d imagine the £18 seats would be slightly better.

Thank you David. I knew I'd had a cheapish stalls ticket when I saw Sweeney. Raked through my ticket stubs and the then £11 seat is now £33! But its just along from the £18 seats so will go for them. Thanks!

Did anyone notice that huge airplane at the back of the stage towards the end? Must have cost a fortune to build. Just wished it could have actually come onto the stage.

Agree, it’s a shame it couldn’t of come on stage. It was definitely a surprise to see it. It looked impressive from where I was sat.

Hi I have never been to CFT and I was seeing if row U in the rear stalls/ balcony area is a good view. How big is the space, would I feel miles away?

Have booked for Tuesday in the side stalls seats (£18) - Hopefully not too restricted at the side.

Have booked for Tuesday in the side stalls seats (£18) - Hopefully not too restricted at the side. We were in the £10 front row side seats today and it was great for the price. I’d say low numbers get a better view than high numbers but they do perform in all directions where they can.

I’d already booked a show each, added an extra one which will be Gina if I’m reading the plan correctly. Such an amazing show, I was genuinely moved (and not by a rotating auditorium). I don’t know if this show has a life planned after Chichester but the scale and technical side is so much more than I expected. I knew the cast would smash it but it’s huge.

Do we know which of them is going to be in the streaming version? I assume it’s already been filmed with Gina Beck?

I have accidentally booked the one date Houchen is off...guess I'll have to watch the stream too!

Pretty sure it's already been filmed because if you look on the website and go to the streaming version of the show and look at cast it's got the exact cast as a couple of people aren't there and also it's got just two children.

Gorgeous production! I’d seen a touring version back in 2007 maybe, so it’s been a while. Act one is particularly slick with all the wonderful numbers. Act two is slower and the plot seems slightly rushed but a standout “This Nearly Was Mine” was the highlight of the evening.
Well worth the 3 hr roundtrip!

Looking forward to it a great deal. Never been in the CFT. Spent a dull day in Chichester once waiting for my daughter at a uni interview. Is there a Greggs?

Mark, great to hear you had a great time watching this. It’s definitely worth the trek to the CFT. Did you get a decent seat in the end?

We were in side stalls row D55/56 and for the price the view was excellent. A few moments where it certainly felt “side on” but majority of the time I felt they used the space very well so it was restricted.

danb, Greggs is near the Cathedral on North street. Bali Pie ‘Steak Slice’ very difficult to place rhyme-wise😂 NB- update: steak slice & flat white imbibed, now sat on a bench watching pensioners being greeted like old friends by the FOH team. This is lovely.

What a gorgeous theatre and a gorgeous show. As relevant today as it was in 1949. Gina Beck’s Nelly trying to come to terms with what she was feeling re:race broke my heart a little bit. Not a weak link in the cast. Julian Ovenden & Rob Houchen in the same show was vocally just too much. A total eargasm. So lovely to see Jo Ampil again too. Fantastic. Oh and the £10 front row side seats were a marvel. I was expecting a high stage, not a knee high giant revolve.
