Having lived here for nearly 30 years, one thing I've realised is that most people outside of the West Country have no idea where Gloucester actually is. So... Born and bred in Gloucester so I know only too well where it is. Ran away when I was 15, first to the east coast, then to London and finally to Spain. Most people have heard of Gloucester after the Frederick West murders and of course the nursery rhyme "Doctor Foster went to Gloucester ...". What usually confuses people are the Gloucestrian references to dripping cakes and elvers but that's another story.

O/T, sorry, but been bugging me for ages - why is Hana PlaysAndParasols being eaten by a book? The life story of a dramaturg... Eaten by Tom Stoppard's Hapgood

How do I attach a little picture left-screen by my username? I'm tempted to put something up but have no idea where to look for the how-to details on here.

Hi peelee, on the menu across the top click PROFILE then EDIT PROFILE. You'll land on the Avatar tab (avatars are the name for the pictures) so choose the UPLOADED/LINKED option and there you can upload a pic from your device. More forum FAQ's here courtesy of my colleague Michael.

My avatar refers back to the days when I moonlighted from my proper job in a major record company by playing piano for Cockney singalongs and old time music hall shows. The pearly hatband with TL on it was made for me by Larry Barnes, the pearly king of Thornton Heath, who did some unusual music hall acts including recreating Houdini's escapology routine getting out of handcuffs and a straight-jacket and doing paper-tearing while singing 'If it wasn't for the 'ouses in-between'
