Fwiw, I can put up a list tomorrow if anyone wants somewhere to start from, you can then prune and add accordingly. Yes please. What was the point of your stance today? Some strange positions taken, where were you going with them? Oh I'm stressed from a new job. It probably teased out the thought I've had for a while that I - probably unreasonably - hoped people interested in theatre would have very developed critical faculties. But I guess I can understand if you are comfortable with the societal status quo its much easier to settle down with a drink and the BBC version of life. Here's some links (a partial list but I'd imagine enough) that I look forward to reading Twitter.
Essentials (for me) @helenhet20 – essential, genius level @ david _Goodhart – academic, great thinker @tppodcast_ - essential @stephenkb – exception to the no news cycle rule. Excellent first takes, and seconds @paulembery – anti-Woke old-school leftie journalist/fireman. Wind up merchant, as well @declassifieduk – great stuff, worth supporting @johngraywisdom – sadly he’s not on twitter but this gives you heads up to articles @sarahoconnor_ - FT, conscientious on low paid work and exploitation @ adam _tooze – essential @goodwinmj - essential @triggerpod - conversation @medialens – a bit narrow but still good @graceblakeley – Corbyn economist @anandmenon1 – interesting @obornetweets – independent journalist @epkaufm - academic, writer @robgmacfarlane – a beautiful soul
USA @esaagar – will lead you to others @aoc @krystalball – sparky, realist, left @workingfamilies – not Biden, not Trump, the new way with AOC @cornelwest – No1 brother
I look at about another 20 but the above are the ones I look at most at.

Oh dear, looks like someone is being swept with fake news and what other conspiracy theories which are flavour of the day.
The people who were rioting and I don’t think it would be impolite to say they’re not the most intelligent lot, most of them are the Southern religious lot. Donald and the other multi-millionaires Republicans use these people to do their dirty work.
Donald didn’t care who died, if the capital building burnt to the ground and it was good fortune it didn’t and more people didn’t die. He do anything to hang on to power, no matter the price.
The man is an appalling narcissist and it won’t be long before he is impeached and then behind bars.

Why is it always the self proclaimed independent thinkers who come up with the most predictable opinions on this board.
Imagine boasting of being so superior to everyone else but also so fanatically pro Brexit that they actually equated white supremists violently attacking the Capitol to Labour MPs acting as MPs have always done and voting for the option they thought best for the country and ignoring that there were Leave MPs who also voted against their constituencies.

One of the things I find interesting is the people who were involved in this.
There's been a whole move to present Trump as representing the unheard working class, though only ever the white working class, non whites are ignored in this narrative.
This narrative has been pushed by a lot of untrustworthy commentators to attack so called Liberal elites as being the problem, ignoring the fact that Trump and his backers are just as much an elite and usually wealthier.
However some of the people arrested include an attorney, a real estate agent, a professor, a company CEO etc standard Republican supporters. That chimes with observations made on the day about the kind of people involved and the fact they've all been able to take time off to fly to D.C in the first place.
And all for Trump, a man who has simply handed over more billions to the very rich while rolling back environmental and other protections at the behest of the worst of the corporate world while barely caring that a deadly pandemic was sweeping through the country.

Could the BBC-discussion have its own thread?

Yes, Twitter isn't a wholly credible source but this is a fascinating (and alarming) thread of direct experience from Wednesday for those adamant the event was some sort of peaceful objection by disgruntled citizens exercising their right to protest. To believe this is anything but White supremacy in full force is misguided and to defend it is injudicious and deplorable.

If President Trump does get impeached, does it mean the future is not orange?

If President Trump does get impeached, does it mean the future is not orange? I just think it means the cancellation of Trump solidifies even further. Apparently his accounts have either been suspended or restricted across the following platforms: • Twitter • Reddit • Twitch • Google • YouTube • Facebook • Instagram • Snapchat • Apple • Discord • Pinterest • TikTok • Shopify You need to read again what I typed and percolate it.

I suspect the key word there was "apparently".

I kind of feel sorry for the lone pro-Trump protester outside Twitter's headquarters ( link), outnumbered two to one by anti-Trump demonstrators and the three of them being outnumbered ten to one by some rather relieved and possibly bored police.
(And I love the careful placing of the mic stand in the top picture.)

3 months late to the game here, but Sondheim is still writing! Topical in many senses. Check out this little cracker from him, Patti LuPone & Randy Rainbow

Oh well Trump will be going to bed in a little while as the very last time as Potus or IQ45 as some have coined.
Looks like Mike Pence and Mitch McConnell will not be attending his send off from USAF Andrews, this maybe the beginning of the end before he gets impeached. As they say be nice to the people on the way up, you sure as hell meet them on the way down.
Maybe the many people he has pardoned will hold his back, good to see he is flooding the swamp.

Trump announces he's going to build an extremely expensive Wall. A fundraiser is set up to pay for it and raises $millions. Huge amounts of that money go missing; Trump's strategist Steve Bannon is implicated. Trump issues a pardon to Steve Bannon before the trial has even started.
Trump fans: "Nope, nothing remotely suspicious going on there."

It's been disturbing and depressing to see how much damage Trump has caused, not just to his country and the world but also to the individuals who felt special because his words spoke to them in a way no other politician's had, and it's only now that they're starting to realise that it's all been a lie right from the very start. The smartest ones are, anyway. Some are still desperately trying to weave today's events into the narrative so they can carry on believing in The Plan. Their time will come. It will. It must.
Some of the stories beggar belief. A man saying how he's cut himself off from his mother because she's convinced that, as a Democrat, he's going to sell his children to paedophiles. Someone threatening to shoot his children because he thinks they're going to turn him in to the FBI for invading the Capitol. The many thousands of people who genuinely believed that they were fighting for the future of the country against oppressors who had stolen the election and only now realise they're facing real charges for real crimes that could mean real prison sentences, with their God-Hero handing out pardons to his mates but not for them.
One of the Capitol attackers committed suicide a couple of days ago.
It's a shame Trump is too old to spend enough years in prison for what he's done.
