I am sure we all have our memories of her over the years. She always seemed to care about people and had such a lovely nature about her. She really was a national treasure. RIP.

Lovely Babs.
Like millions of others, I grew up watching her on the TV in re-runs of Carry On. Then I saw her on stage in Guys and Dolls, which I've narrowed down to August 1991. It was the last night of a tour, so we were treated to an extra special performance from everyone.
She was Miss Adelaide, with Gareth Hunt as her Nathan.

She did care. I remember she used to visit Sid James even when he was in serious decline. Went out to near Crystal Palace in a cab with a big bunch of flowers, always dressed up but very discreet. The embodiment of working-class London.

She lived a full and rich life. Who else can have dated the Krays and been nominated for a Tony. We will not see her like again.

Never forget her swanning into Joseph at the Adelphi one night, saying hello to everybody who said hi. A lovely, charming and vivacious lady. RIP.
