I see John Sessions has died. He was quite brilliant at comic improvisation. I always thought he should get a lot more stage work than he did. I saw him in the 80s in "The Alchemist" and "Man Equals Man" and as recently as 2013 in "Longing" at Hampstead.

He was a great performer, very adaptable. IIRC he was in the original cast of "My Night with Reg" - he was certainly in the West End transfer and subsequent TV adaptation. When I first came to London I went to some of the recordings of Whose Line is it Anyway - at that time they were filmed in studios in the remote and desolate place known as Canary Wharf - and he was, it appeared, effortlessly funny throughout the whole recording, compared to others who were definitely "on" for the cameras and very much "off" at other times.

Just reading the obituaries I remember now that his tour de force one-man show “The Life of Napoleon” where he played fifty different characters was greatly praised in 1989. I did not see it - did anyone here ?
