Hasn't someone on here already said it's London for Christmas? Feel like MrB did?
I mean, if they were thinking Palladium then there's no reason it couldnt go home to the Dominion really.... (Anything to get rid of Prince of Egypt)

If not the Palladium and I am sure the royal visit gave the panto elevation.
If it couldn’t get a big London theatre, then maybe it could park up at Hammersmith.

It would be highly likely to end up at the Dominion. Prince of E won’t run for long if it reopens.

MrB knows from what he speaks but my question is why would Prince of Egypt not run long if it reopens? I think I read they were making it an open ended run when they were returning? Or has that changed? Also, is there a chance Hello Dolly will be coming this year or is it def 2022 because of Imelda's commitment to "The Crown"?

I would’ve thought Prince of Egypt would make the 2021 Christmas season, if it does open next year. If it did issue closing notices I would have though it would be for January 2022.
Wicked was doing fair business, nut was no where near selling out and relied on tourists, this show could be at risk.

Prince of Egypt won’t run because it’s terrible and it had no advance. The general feeling is that Hello Dolly won’t happen at all now, as Imelda is tied up with The Crown until 2024. And it’s highly likely she will get an awful lot of exposure following its first season with her and those Hollywood projects are hard to turn down $$$$$

Wicked was doing fair business, nut was no where near selling out and relied on tourists, this show could be at risk. The key thing keeping Wicked going is that the Apollo Victoria is an absolute barn and no other show wants the space. Yes it’s often only half full but that’s still more people than a sold out Les Mis (for example). It still makes a boatload of cash for ATG so they’ll be in no rush to show Wicked the door unless a really promising proposal comes along. And if sales really slow down I would expect there to be a greater likelihood of Wicked being able to negotiate a rent reduction rather than being booted. Owing to its roots as a “super cinema” the AV has a small stage compared to the other theatres of similar capacity (looking at Dominion/Drury Lane//Lyceum/Palladium) so a mega production might not fit. Wicked is by no means a small show but it was downsized from Broadway. I believe the London production is modelled on the 1st US tour (I’m sure someone will correct me on that if I am mistaken!) I know there has been talk in the past of Wicked using its U.K. tour set and downsizing to a smaller venue - obviously that hasn’t happened yet but I wouldn’t rule it out in the future if they feel that it makes economic sense. Anyway I’ve veered a little off topic! Dominion would be a great shout for BATB. Again it’s a barn but a limited run should do well. As I understand it, Prince of Egypt’s sales weren’t anywhere near where they needed to be. It really wouldn’t surprise me if when it does come back it Is announced as a limited season. Time will tell I guess.

Time will tell I guess. According to some die-hard wicked fans I know, the show was barely changed from the broadway production. It’s pretty much a carbon copy if you ignore the British accents. The only major difference is that the London’s proscenium is sightly smaller but retains the same level of detail. The touring sets have always used a very downscaled proscenium.

Agree if Wicked did move on, Apollo Victoria will struggle to get a tenant.
I did hear changes that got made to Wicked in the West End ended up going into the Broadway show. Not sure what theses are as I don’t follow the show that closely. So any super fans please post?
The 2nd Wicked tour done better than the 1st tour, prove there is still an appetite for the Emerald City. Did the 2nd tour ever complete? Obviously the UK tour would be mainly natives in the audience, I would say the exact opposite for the West End. However it would be a struggle to fill that barn, if Wicked did move on.
Consensus on here is that a Panto is going back into the London Palladium.

I was thinking there is no way they’d want to get rid of wicked I don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon either as it’s about to celebrate it’s 15th anniversary next year. So this is great news for wicked :-)

Promotion for a series can be fitted around other things, especially now everyone has become used to Zoom interviews. No one with any business sense would kick Wicked out of the Apollo Victoria without a guaranteed mega hit on a Hamilton scale to replace it, as that building is far too big otherwise to make it easy to rent. Doesn't work for limited runs.

Panto is back at the palladium next year so beauty and the beast must be spending Christmas either somewhere else or the wmc in Cardiff as we haven’t got a Xmas show for next year yet. My gues is we’re either getting beauty or love never dies

My gues is we’re either getting beauty or love never dies The fact that Wales hasn't announced a Christmas show does not mean you're getting this? I enjoy your optimism that all gaps mean WMC is getting whatever show though! The more logical guess is Christmas at its original home (the Dominion) no?

Not sure I can see this going into the West End with Lion King, Mary Poppins and Frozen already there. Surely Poppins or Frozen will need to go before Disney want to put it in?...After all that's why Frozen isn't reopening on Broadway after COVID because that with Lion King and Aladdin was too much.

I know the show hasn't opened yet, but looking at the tour venues Bedknobs is going to it looks like it could play in a smaller house than the Prince Edward - IF it goes to the West End.

Thats surprising I thought a show like this would require a bigger theatre. That's because from looking at some of the venues it will be playing at (like the Orchard in Dartford for example), it's not going to be a large scale show like Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast. Also, it's being produced by Michael Harrison by special arrangement with Disney (as it says on the Wikipedia page), so technically Disney are giving the rights to Harrison to produce it. I hope I explained that well enough.

Strikes me too that from the variety of venues sizes it'll be old fashioned tricks (a bit like Wendy and Peter Pan at the RSC) rather than Mary Poppins style flying. I'm excited to see it though!

Surprised we haven’t seen Beauty and the Beast dates at the Palace Manchester yet. What’s the bleedin’ problem? ’

Strange, isn’t it? It’s gonna be a large tour (at least judging from the costumes, actors won’t have to move things with their hands like in the awful NetWorks tour). But the Palace is a big venue. Maybe they’re waiting to see if it’s worth it to keep touring the UK after the West End run, or just bring the whole set to Broadway for the revival? Or maybe they’ll leave Manchester for Christmas 2021, and keep London for later on?
