She's been an OBE since 1986 but nothing since, Sue Barker is also a OBE while Ann Jones and Angela Mortimer are both CBE but yes it does look odd that none of the living female slam winners have made Dame given Murray is a Sir even though his overall accomplishments are greater.

The one and only time I've been successful in the Wimbledon ballot was for the second Friday, which today would have been. This was long before the roof, and it started raining about five minutes after we arrived...and never stopped. Poured it down it did, so we never saw a ball hit in anger!

She isn’t a Dame? Wow, what an omission. Andy had it easy by that comparison. She was an elegant and tough player and that match an example of both. Happy Birthday! No Ginny is only an OBE given around 1985, she'd had an MBE prior to this. Ann Jones only had an MBE up to 2014 when she was given a CBE. Shirley Brasher who won the French Open in 1957 has never received anything and is now 86. Sue Barker is an OBE and 1961 Wimbledon Champion Angela Mortimer was made a CBE in the late 1960's and is now 88 years old. Virginia has lived a spotless life so why she hasn't been further honoured I don't know.

Andy Murray has the couple of Olympic Gold Medals and a Silver but Ann Jones was a world table tennis finalist! Fred Perry never got a single honour!

Always worth remembering that the honours system is nonsense...
There’s no objective criteria in play, and it’s certainly not ‘fair’. Lots of populism and political favouritism.
