What are you buying with your refund money?

Had very little in refunds as mainly credit vouchers, rescheduled dates or waiting for rescheduled dates. What I have had has gone towards paying the extra bills that are usually covered by overtime so that I keep my head above water and don't incur extra debt

No refunds for theatre, have been happy to take credit or donate the cost of the tickets.

For holidays, I've had refunds and that is staying firming in my 'future holidays' fund. Next year is HOLIDAY CENTRAL!

Same as clair above: I've either donated or turned into credit most of the money I paid for the tickets.
The little I got back from the Boulevard I've already donated further (to the Lockdown Plays fundraiser, and doubled, as it was a really cheap ticket), and my Barbican refund will be divided between a donation to the Almeida (which is my favourite, and my local theatre) and a chocolate delivery for a friend (and theatre buddy, so seems appropriate) who sprained her ankle at the worst time possible. 

Which doesn't mean I'm not shopping more than I should, just from other sources...

Primarily credits for me.

Credits will be used to fill my calendar to a similar position as pre-Covid without a hit on my wallet.

After an initial outlay buying bits for my home office and some guitar pieces my spending is now significantly lower especially ticket purchases and using this pot to buy bits and pieces.

Just checking that you know that if you have a credit balance on a credit card you can request it to be transferred to your bank? Might be preferable for some.

I had a theatre holiday booked for April - I had a decent number of shows booked, plus hotel and travel. I have had refunds on the majority of shows and hotel - and am now saving that money up to buy a new car when businesses start reopening.

I’ve taken the opportunity to use the money to do so some work on my house. The house is from the Victorian era so the bathroom was a bit of an afterthought extension with a flat roof. Unfortunately the bitumen roof covering has reached the end of its life so a new covering has just been put on.

With credit notes with theatres at least it will be easier on my credit card when the theatres reopen.

Divorce.

There's a story - separated 8 years after the stbx came back from Afghanistan (another story) but now he's found a girlfriend (she's been divorced twice) the amicable split has turned into a bitchfest on his part .....
For me, this Covid poo had a topping of divorce poo and with hayfever working at the desk next to the garden my double whammy poo has gravy.

Saver, though not so much from theatre refunds as the huge lifestyle change in not going to London/elsewhere 2 days per week for theatre/cinema nor catching the train back from walks a couple of days per week. So no transport costs, incidental expenses, no ongoing theatre booking for months ahead as normal and no holidays/weekend breaks booked either.

A little like londonmzfitz, though OH and I aren't married, we were on the point of putting the house on the market to sell up and separate when the lockdown started, so I had already forsworn holidays this year until I knew where we stood with that. While that's on hold I'm saving as much as possible, figuring that if/when a move is possible, I can't have too much spare cash available. And if there's some left over, I will really have earned that holiday and as many theatre trips as I want.
