It's Monday morning, the sun is shining and I'm tired of all the doom and gloom so thought I'd set this thread up. Only good, happy and positive thoughts allowed - let's have one thread that is an oasis amongst the chaos for those struggling to come to and leave with a smile. My first positives this week are:
It's wonderful having the windows open and fresh air through the house all day
I'm finally going through all my theatre programmes to streamline them and list what I've seen and who was in them
I've had a lovely long letter from a friend, also filled with good thoughts, which has made me smile

Not a cloud in the sky where I am. Loads of sparrows, though, and I can hear wood pigeons somewhere.
Where I sit while I'm working I'm looking out on to the weathered tiles and red-orange brickwork of the neighbour's roof, and when it catches the morning sun it always makes it look warm outside even when it isn't.

This is a lovely thread! I had a great team meeting with my colleagues, and it was lovely to 'see' each other, virtually, as we're all at home and only going into the office individually on a rota so we don't pass anything on to anyone else.
Can't wait for my lunch time walk in the lovely weather and I have discovered some amazing routes since only being allowed out once, through beautiful residential streets and even countryside, although I live in London.

This is such a lovely topic! :) In all honesty, small joys are what is getting me through this quarantine (and through life in general), so having a topic all about them (as odd as mine may seem sometimes) will certainly help! So far, mine have, today, included: - starting my day with a big cup of coffee and the last GoGo Penguin single on repeat (I am a 'repeat' person: I've been listening to the same stuff for a week now, and can't seem to get tired of it - this has been a new addition over the weekend, and I am completely enchanted by that piano intro) - treating myself to some TheOrdinary cosmetics, because I seem to be running out of everything (and my usual stuff would take weeks to arrive under the circumstances); I got some stuff I know is good, but also a tiny thing I haven't tried yet and am looking forward to (of course, I expect nothing less than for it to transform me from an 'ugly duckling' into a fully fledged 'swan' until the theatres finally reopen, in case I bump into any of you in the foyer somewhere!), - a lovely email from my boss, who is such a wonderfully smart and kind and funny person, about London under lockdown (triggered by my empty Covent Garden photos I shared with him and a colleague, because they miss it), - a wonderful email from one of the staff at the Almeida: I'd emailed them about some tickets and told them I missed the Almeida and couldn't wait to go back; apparently it hit a spot (I love it when people are lovely for no reason), - loads of sunshine, too! Hopefully will still include: - a walk to... somewhere... anywhere; - watching the remaining episodes of Quiz!

Spent this morning doing some gardening in the gorgeous sunshine with my lovely little dog who has been with me for just over a year now. He brings sunshine into my life every day 🥰
ETA - it was the one year anniversary last week since we adopted our lovely rescue dog and now more than ever I’m glad we found each other.

Today’s schedule- Doing on-line safeguarding courses. Finishing painting our garden fences(part two of a two day job) Lunch with the family in the garden.
The thing that is getting me through is some kind of routine... been doing long walks on some days when not needed in work and fitness is much better.
Thanks for the thread Stay safe and peace and serenity to all fellow posters 👍

I'm enjoying the lovely weather and the relative quietness even in my part of London. No aircraft flying overhead and less traffic on the street outside. We have a local Facebook group in my street and the streets nearby and lots of kindness there with people giving things away and helping each other. Someone gave me a tomato seedling at the weekend. Just a small gesture but I was thrilled. I kind of like working from home one day a week as there is no commute, can eat my lunch in the garden and when I finish I am home in about 10 seconds. But I quite enjoy going into the office as at least I have people to talk to. Otherwise I dont have anyone to talk to apart when I phone my dad in the evening but we dont have anything to tell each other as we have not done anything. Have to say although there is a lot friendliness about that all goes out of the window when commuting and people are as rude as ever.

On our walk today - Rescued a ewe who had her head stuck through a wire fence and couldn’t get back out. I think she knew we were helping because she stayed calm and let us do what we needed to do; saw our first swallows of the season and then had a flock of wheatears buzzing around the garden! Haven’t seen them around here before. Not to mention all the butterflies fluttering by.

The weather has been exceptional over the last few weeks, nothing better than being outside in warm sunshine to lift the spirit even if limited and made more so with nature taking full advantage of our absence.

I've ticked something off the 'to do' list that's been there for years! Finally got all the things I'd like framed together, photographed and measured them so that next time I'm in a shop with odd sized frames I know what I need to get as very few of them are 'normal' sizes. Of course, i now need some extra walls and to find someone who makes frames and sells them at lovely low prices but still a sterp in the right direction

Think the good weather will have helped in this crisis. Can you imagine if it had been a month of rain? Our garden has been a godsend for me.The big problem is for people who don’t have a garden or even a balcony on their flat.Feel sorry for them. Trying to avoid the national news.Local news seems to feature more ‘feel good news’ in our area so am sticking with that. Got a nurse next door to us and she is having to live in a caravan at the front so that she doesn’t potentially contaminate her family. The NHS and carers are all solid-gold 🦸♀️ and 🦸♂️ in my opinion.

My daily stretch session has properly sorted my back out, and my new savings account for future theatre tickets where I'm plonking all the money I'm not now spending in the pub and Franco Manca is giving me hope for the future!

My one year old niece is getting quite adept at facetime, she loves the phone and will wander off with me so I see quite a bit of ceiling and a bit of her chin. We have learnt it is possible to play hide and seek virtually, since her hiding is just covering her eyes and my seeking just requires me to yell where's Hattie down the phone. And probably as i'm not adept at facetime my picture often go sideways and upside down and her and her brother think it the funniest thing and giggle and their laughter is like bird song and makes me smile.

I dare to strongly disagree on this: I have been working too, but everything is made so much easier by the sun! Even if sometimes I don't make it outside, its presence makes me a tiny degree happier. :) (Being stuck indoors with nothing but grey skies outside sounds a bit... awful.) One more thing that has been making me happy: running. I've been getting back into it, and despite the fact that I am going neither fast nor far, I have really been enjoying it.

Petula Clark has recorded a song Starting all over again based on the current situation. Not bad for an 87 year old. She has written and recorded it in English and French. It has a lovely melody and great lyrics. I wrote this lyric to David Hadzis’ lovely melody, and it came straight from the heart.
We are all going through a challenging time, and the future feels ‘on hold’.
We need each other more than ever, and we will, I believe, be stronger for this struggle.
My love to you all.
Petula x
I have found it amazing noticing the small things on my walks each day.The bluebells and sound of birds is lovely. Keep positive and stay well!

^Agreed,Forrest...there are also a lot of people who suffer with Seasonally Affected Disorder as well who will be glad to see the brighter sunnier weather.Hayfever sufferers may well disagree and as with all things, you can’t please all the people all the time... In college working rest of week and next week so will have to just appreciate the good weather(if it lasts)from behind a window😀

So far today I have had a very beautiful 10k run early this morning. Just spent a very happy hour with the children of key workers who are in school playing in the foundation stage area - all the children here today normally don't get to go in because they are not in that class, but today they've been given the freedom to explore and are loving it. Wonderful!

Have heard from several friends today and so good to know that they're all safe and well, when all's said and done that's the most important thing in my life - missing theatre, work, seeing people, travel etc but if all those I love stay safe then I'm happy and positive

After a frustrating day at work I came home to a sunny garden where the wisteria is smelling so nice (I'm sure I've not smelt it before and I've had it for years. One of my neighbours 3 gardens down who is a music teacher is out there teaching the young girl in the next garden how to play the guitar. And a stray kitten that I had been feeding but not seen for while turned up with a little friend and the two of the were playing in the garden. So I've been making a little bed up on the greenhouse where he used to sleep. He's looking very healthy indeed which is great. Made me happy to see nice little things in terrible times.
