My faves so far Encore! Once upon a mattress - utterly brilliant Tracey Ullman princess and the pea movie. All the freaky Friday and parent swap films. I’m bingeing Encore! I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’m incapable of getting through an episode without crying. I was the same with Coco the other day. It’s ridiculous.

Watched the Howard Ashman doc and the Sherman brothers doc this weekend.
Quite impressed that both of them were not nicey-nicey Disney whitewashes. They didn't brush over that Howard kept his AIDS diagnosis a secret because he was worried about getting fired or that the Sherman Brothers really don't get on at all.

It is probably the Disney film I cried the most at (and I seem to cry at loads of them)!

Almost 74 million 'paid' subscribers now, worldwide, from a standing start just a year ago.
Still loss-making, mind, which is only to be expected at this stage of the game.
And Disney's other divisions underperformed due to CV, so it's all swings and roundabouts (but not at the parks that are still closed, obvs!).

Only Murders in the Building Really enjoyed this rather silly, slightly tense murder mystery where 3 residents of a building setup a podcast to solve the mystery of a murder in their apartment building. One of the characters is a failed Theatre Director so there's a few fun references a theatre-fan would enjoy.

My subscription is coming up for renewal in a month and it’s a no brainer to keep it on - whereas our Netflix is on borrowed time… Enjoyed Only Murders - was going to give the Kings Man/Men films a go but having second thoughts now! But I have a massive watch list to work through anyway Having the Disney back catalogue at our fingertips has been invaluable during lock down and a family isolation last month - my daughter is obsessed with Encanto, while my son would happily watch the Cars films on a loop if he could… The Mandalorian was great, though I wasn’t too keen on the recent Boba Fett series - hoping the upcoming Obi Wan series is better. And very much looking forward to West Side Story as I missed it at the cinema.

I thought that Dopesick was impressive - and it led me to watch documentaries and read more widely about the criminal opioid epidemic.

The fuzzy cast of The Muppet Christmas Carol celebrated the beloved festive movie’s upcoming 30th anniversary at D23 Expo, where it was revealed that for the first time ever, the movie will be coming to Disney+ in its original uncut format featuring the long-lost song, 'When Love Is Gone.' Widely regarded as one of the best adaptations of the classic Dickens story of Ebenezer Scrooge, and it has taken a long time for the movie to be released as originally intended.

Cancel Disney plus is now trending on social media. Looks like people are saying the content being put out there is not worth it. I mean from what I hear from discussions of secret invasion and mandalorian season 3, I’m not surprised

That's right wing nut jobs who have turned on them over the last couple of years for going 'woke'.
It's half the price of Netflix which has been dire for the last 12 months, so it's staying in my house but NF is being shown the door.

That's right wing nut jobs who have turned on them over the last couple of years for going 'woke'. It's half the price of Netflix which has been dire for the last 12 months, so it's staying in my house but NF is being shown the door. Well I'm glad you're enjoying your Disney+, but it's already lost 4 million subscribers in the first quarter this year (https://www.theguardian.com/media/2023/may/11/disney-loses-4m-subscribers-amid-exodus-in-indian-market) and another 11.7 the second quarter (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/09/business/media/disney-earnings.html), partly because Disney stopped paying for the rights to stream cricket for those in India, and they're loosing money on it. They already taken off stuff like Willow and National Treasure series that barely anyone watched. And what have we got to look forward to later this year? Maybe people will subscribe once for Ashoka, Loki 2 and I am Groot, but people are getting tired of Marvel and Lucasfilm's output. And if their major cinema releases this summer have been box office failures (https://screenrant.com/disney-movies-summer-2023-box-office-bombs-disappointments/) what chance is there that they'll bring in subscribers when they come to the platform So lets see how many more right wing nut jobs they loose in the next few months. Point is, many people aren't finding that much value in Disney or Netflix. You can find way more value for free on Youtube. I certainly do.

YouTube Premium is the one subscription I would stick with if I had to choose. I get more value out of that than all the rest put together.

+1 on YouTube Premium
Without the ads YouTube is transformed, now that vlogs are becoming more and more professional I watch YouTube more than any other channel.
