Seats released across all of the run. Just grabbed a pair for a November matinee WHOOP! Ooh, thank you for posting. Just managed to get a single stalls seat for a matinee!! I was gutted when I thought it had sold out.

Andrew Rannells must leave Tuc Watkins in the dust and marry me now. I mean the man is gorgeous holding a puppet for heaven's sake.

17 days to go!
Does the Almedia have a preview period, like west end productions?

I saw Katie Brayben and Andrew Rannells walking together towards Highbury & Islington on Saturday. They were in deep conversation so hopefully that means they are working well together :-)

I just got an email that the first preview has been canceled.
"Unfortunately, due to unforeseen delays, we have to cancel the performance of Tammy Faye on Thursday 13 October. We are sorry for the inconvenience this causes."

I got the same email - the second cancelled preview after The Band's Visit for me this month.
At least they offered to move us to two dates in November, unlike the Donmar that didn't honor the preview prices and told me I'd have to pay twice as much to be moved to a different date.

Sorry to hear that. I'm surprised they are able to re-allocate everyone but that's good news.

The Almedia box office are the best. It's so nice to have an actual person answer the call and help you.
I had a ticket for Thursday which was cancelled and phoned to get a refund as I couldn't make the 14/15th dates offered. I asked if they had a returns policy for tickets on the day, should I want to try again, and they had a ticket available for this Friday and in the row behind where i was originally booked. The woman I spoke to was super helpful and it was done in minutes. You rarely get that service from the big theatre chains these days.
Fingers crossed they don't cancel Friday too, now.

Anyone worried they didn’t get tickets, don’t be. This is going to run in the West End for about a million years.

It went down a storm this eve...whole cast worked their socks off. Had us rocking in the alises. Its bright.. brash..sassy and camp..just the right amount of humour and tragedy. Some catchy gospel vibe tunes but a song at the end called "IF you came to see me cry" was a cut above everything else for me..the 2 leads will get nominations for their performances. Defo west end transfer..Praise the Lord!!

Out of interest, does Katie have a lot of costume changes and does she pull off the iconic Tammy look?

It’s incredible. I very rarely see musicals and this is just an instant and obvious hit.
The dancing and choreography are particular highlights. It’s also just very very funny. You can tell it’s a James Graham script and if you like James Graham’s plays go see this, because he puts his stamp on it more than perhaps book writers generally do.
There are quite a few costume changes and the costumes are all bang on for the time period, as we move through the 70s and 80s. It’s a very colourful production.
I was also sitting behind Emilia Clarke who seemed to like it!

I know the Almeida isn't that large but I assume they're aiming for a bigger playhouses or perhaps at a push a 1000-1100 seater theatre like the Phoenix or Savoy.

This was fantastic tonight! For a first preview of a brand new show, it's in great shape. I think there is definitely some work to be done, especially towards the end of Act 2, but wow, really impressive.
Watching Katie Brayben's performance as Tammy Faye, made me think of Ellen Green as Audrey. I can't see it being done better. She was that good. She deserves a much better moment to shine in the final bows. The final song, which i'm not sure the show needs and feels tacked on, was a bit too much like 'take me to heaven' from Sister Act.
I wasn't disappointed as such, but Andrew Rannells is too Andrew Rannells/Book of Mormon, and there were a few moments that felt VERY BoM-ish. It's not a bad thing, but when you have Katie Brayben totally transformed as Tammy Faye, it was a little distracting.
Overall, The score was great, which surprised me after hearing Devil Wears Prada. It has a gospel sound and really uplifting, but saying that, one of my favourite songs was Satellite of God, sung by Zubin Varla as Jerry Fulwell, which has a darker side to it. There is a song in Act 2, He Promised Me, that was a huge highlight for me, but it needs a button for the big applause it deserves. The 11 o'clock number If You Came To See Me Cry was good, but i felt it just needed something a bit more to make it the song it's trying to be.
It scary that the politics in the show are so relevant in America today. Trump getting the evangelical endorsement that helped him win, Jerry Fulwell Jr and his recent 'pool boy' scandal and Billy Graham's son Franklin Graham was only recently touring the UK spreading the same hate his father was.
This will 100% transfer and Katie Brayben will win every award going, including the Tony Award if she transfers with it.
