I wonder how many in the queue had more than one device joining? That was the old trick - set 2 or 3 devices to join in the hope that one will get a lucky low queue place, and then close the others out. I would guess that many people savvy enough to be getting in the queue for public on-sale are experienced queuers who know the tricks. Old Vic on sale I tried two devices and got in much quicker using the second device which joined the queue later. The Almeida did at least seem to assign places in chronological order. Queue-it, the system most of these theatres use, randomises visitors that are on the page when the sale starts (they call them 'Pre-Queue' users). Anyone joining after the sale start (after every pre-queue user has been allocated a queue number) is added to the queue in chronological order. So it's just a coincidence if you end up getting in first with your first device. I tend to find it's the device I least want to get through that gets the best spot, I believe that's referred to as 'Sod's law'.

I’ll admit that up to Sunday night I was determined to hold out on purchasing Membership for this seasons shows but finally broke and coughed up the £70 that night as the FOMO took hold. Got the £25 stalls F19 and G17 for TF and Streetcar respectively.Having sat in these seats before, I think they are great value and the slim pillars really aren’t that bad in the Almeida stalls to have a bad view from these seats.
A Tammy Faye and Newies double show day in November should be a great day.

I’m sure when I was looking back and forth between the booking page and seatplan I found seats in rows F/G and back that were r on seatplan, as in the rows on the Almeida site seemed to have extra seats at the end of rows compared to seatplan. Can’t find it now though :-) Maybe it was morning brain!

Don’t be mean - if you have useful info to share, share it. Some of us are holding our nerve against shelling out an additional £70 for a membership. I’m not being mean. I’m being realistic. It’s mostly sold out already and it’s a tiny theatre. There won’t be tickets for everyone who logs on to get them. I’m a little surprised this hasn’t sold out by now Yep, you were pretty adamant that people were going to be disappointed. What went wrong do you think?

There’s still tickets available on Wednesday matinees, as far as I can see the other dates are sold out.
There’s a distinction to be made between a show that will almost sell out to theatre aficionados soon after on-sale, and a show that will almost sell out to members before public booking opens.
There’s actually very few of the latter and they usually involve a big celeb - the difference is fans willing to buy the membership just to make sure they can access the seats they want (and often go more than once). It’s not the size of the venue per se (CumberHamlet was almost sold out to members before public on-sale, even though the Barbican is huge), but the size and motivation of the fanbase.
It’s quite easy to get Donmar tickets these days, without the big name celeb casting.
The commonality is that you definitely can’t wait for the reviews before you book!

Exactly. Have been an Almeida member for a couple years and the general issue is sometimes I forget to book early and end up needing to be creative around booking as things generally sell out when in previews or right after opening night. This has sold faster than almost anything since American Psycho and that was a super short run and you had Matt Smith which brings it own dynamic. For a show that people know nothing about or have any songs, it’s sold quickly and for the benefit of a west end transfer they will have a sold out run at the Almeida to work from plus some good songs to use. Right now we only have a stock image. There’s still tickets available on Wednesday matinees, as far as I can see the other dates are sold out. Heard Elton on the R2 breakfast show earlier, and they talked a little about the show. So I expect those last available tickets will go soon.

I'm not too surprised it hasn't sold as quickly as Streetcar, it's a new musical about someone who isn't that familiar to UK audiences.

Jessica Chastain also played her (and won an Oscar!) in the recent film about her life. I absolutely hated it and if I were basing my decision to attend purely on what the film was like, I’d be avoiding it like the plague! But as Elton’s involved I’m interested to see how it turns out.

But James Graham is incredibly good at making unlikable characters redeeming (ie Rupert Murdoch) so think there is potential for a much better book here.

Yes, the fact that James Graham is involved really suggests that it’ll be a bit deeper and more interesting than the average musical, and Elton is rather good at ‘religious’ musical styles (he draws a lot on hymns and gospel) and ‘Americana’.
Maybe it’ll fall flat on its face like ‘Prada’ has - but this just seems more like a passion project than a money-making venture.

All dates now showing as sold out on the Almeida site. Also looks like there's a new marketing image rather than just the Almeida style 'Tammy Faye' logo. Link to Tammy Faye booking page(Having tech issues trying to get the actual image pasted here)

I had a feeling the eyes be feature although they need to be more OTT.

I don’t particularly like or dislike the eyes but with all the gold I do find them very reminiscent of the Cher Show logo at the moment.

They don’t even look like Tammys eyes. I don’t know why it’s so hard for these marketing departments to get this kind of thing wrong. They literally have one job.

TBH if it gets a West End transfer, they'll probably end up changing the artwork anyway.

I actually like the art, especially the use of gold which symbolizes both wealth and 'tackiness'.
But no doubt, it will likely change if the show moves on to bigger stages.

Then surely Simon Lipkin should be in it as puppets and him go together. (Unfortunately he is being an Elf at he same time).

The puppets aren't that surprising, that's how Tammy Faye and Jim Bakker started out with children's shows.
