As suggested by members in the Wicked thread, a place to post updates on who is on for who today, tonight or this week.

Great idea!
Sjoerd van der Meer is on as Galileo for both shows today at We Will Rock You tour.
Laura Pick is on as Elphaba, Lisa-Anne Wood as Glinda, Kerry Enright as Madame Morrible and Rebecca Botterill as Midwife, all both shows today at Wicked, West End.

Also at WWRY - Ellie Mitchell and Jacob Fearey, the tour’s only two swings, are split-tracking FOUR ensemble tracks for both shows today.

Luke McCall is making his Valjean debut (in this production) this evening.
If his Valjean is as good as his Phantom was, he will be incredible.

I was thinking more before it happens so that people have a chance to see it, rather than daily updates. Great to have the info though, so maybe we could edit the initial post to extend appearance dates rather than identical posts with just a different date? 😊

You misunderstand Burly. My post was in reference to dj’s daily updates on Laura Pick’s Wicked residency. If we post the same thing every day surely it’ll just take up storage? I’m not entirely sure if you’re being snarky or not, but I can assure you that my concerns were purely administrative and content based.

Sorry I thought you were talking about the thread itself, and the first post saying what it was for.
No, I wasn’t being snarky, not sure why you thought that.

Laura is only scheduled on from Thursday-Saturday this week (as per cast page), however Laura is on again tonight. I believe Nikki has been off ill since just before Christmas. Hope she gets better soon!

Meanwhile, over at A Comedy About a Bank Robbery - there have been a whole host of understudies recently, including some returning cast members such as Jack Whittle and Finlay Paul, who both returned this weekend, Jack to cover Mitch yesterday, Finlay to cover Sam today.
The Mischief Theatre shows have called on ex cast members quite a lot in the past - I am guessing due to how physical the shows are, which can easily lead to injuries leaving them short of cast.

The Mischief Theatre shows have called on ex cast members quite a lot in the past - I am guessing due to how physical the shows are, which can easily lead to injuries leaving them short of cast. I haven't bothered posting about TCAABR on this thread because I don't know anyone other than myself who tries to see their understudies but yes, it's been pretty crazy recently, even by Mischief understudy standards. In hindsight having the tour cast come into the West End with only a couple of weeks off in between probably wasn't the greatest idea. There have been covering issues pretty much from the start of the run. I saw Finlay as Sam back in August and he's been in the show on and off ever since, going on for Mitch & Cooper as well as Sam. Jack was on a Shuck at the beginning of December and did a couple of Mitches earlier this month as well as this past Saturday. The first Sunday in January Chris Leask was back as Freeboys (the day after covering Trevor in PPGW, which must be some sort of emergency cover record!) and Jack Baldwin as Shuck. Ross Virgo, the only one of the 3 male understudies who isn't nursing injury issues, has been on almost non-stop for well over a month & I've seen him do 4 different roles in the last 4 weekends.
ETA: In case this comes across as being critical of the current cast, I'd just like to make it clear that these sorts of issues have also occurred in past casts. For example back in 2018 I saw Dave Hearn back as Sam 3 times, with 2 different casts. Charlie Russell, Henry Shields, Gareth Tempest & Niall Ransome all also did emergency covering at various times during 2017 and 2018 & they are only the ones I either saw or heard about. I daresay there may have been other instances too.

Hi all, we’ve had this thread as a sticky for a trial tun of over one month now. I’m not sure that the amount of activity (18 posts, 5 of which are not related to understudies) during that time merits it being permanently stuck at the top of the forum. So I’m releasing the thread to take its place with everything else in the General section. Thank you.

Over at &Juliet last night Arun went off during the interval, so Nathan (who was in the ensemble) had to switch to May, while Josh (who was covering Dillon’s track) changed around to cover Nathan’s track & Billy Nevers went on for Dillon’s track. He’s off again today.
Melanie la Barrie has called out of the show since Tuesday as a result of the acute bronchitis she had over the holiday season, so Jocasta Almgill is covering as the Nurse & Danielle Fiamanya is covering as Lady Capulet.

More chaos at &Juliet tonight - all 5 swings were performing, and just as Act 2 started (Since U Been Gone) Cassidy went off and there was a brief show stop. Jocasta Almgill made her DEBUT as Anne — her second cover — as Kirstie was out, so Danielle Fiamanya was shifted to Lady Capulet while the ensemble was ultimately cut with all of these changes being pulled off flawlessly.

I was at Come From Away last night - had 4 understudies on. Ricardo Castro on as Kevin J, Chiara Baronti as Hannah, Jennifer Tierney as Diane and Kirsty Malpass returned to the show as Bonnie. All did a tremendous job - all 3 ladies were playing a 2nd cover and you would have thought they were the principal cast they were so good. Ricardo was really good as Kevin J, especially considering he only joined the show this week.
