I too am holding off on this for now, I'm struggling to get past just how much I hated Imelda Staunton in Gypsy (an against the grain opinion it seems). I don't get the 'she's too old' criticisms though. I think the Streisand film skewed people's perceptions of what the character is, and even Barbra herself said she was too young for the part. I do like the idea of a good old fashioned musical though, so will be happy to go for a cheaper rush ticket if they become available. Also, semi tangent, but by far my favourite version of the titular Hello, Dolly song is the Judy Garland/Liza Minelli duet from Garland's Live at the London Palladium album. Now that's showbiz honey! Is that where Liza sings "you're Still crowing strong?".

I've always liked the movie, and I never found Barbra too young. To me she's always had one of those faces that looks older. She doesn't look old, but not young either. Especially when looked at through modern eyes.
I'm really hoping Imelda makes Dolly an actual person, a fully fleshed out chatacter. So often it's a characacture and ends up being more about the star playing her rather the role itself.

I have just booked myself a severely restricted seat for this. I hope I can see something as I'm only 5ft 2ins.

The very sides of the 3 front rows have been reduced to £15. And some box seats now advice that the "digital screens" at the bottom of the stage won´t be fully visible. Confirms what we already knew about them using projections.

£20 front row ones now say partially restricted and I'm sure they were down as severely restricted before. So even if I've remembered that wrong I'm taking it as personal win!

Yes, I’ve just looked back at posts from a month or so ago when the front row went on sale and myself and another member quoted the LW Theatres website as saying ‘Severely restricted view. Please be aware you will need to look up to the stage from this seat. Some key moments in the production will not be fully visible.’ So it does look like the restriction may have deemed a little less severe now… fingers crossed!

So, how many Theatreboarders are gonna be having a meet up in the front row? I had also clocked that they changed the wording of the restriction about a week or two ago, which could mean maybe they've taken the stage down a bit or in their blocking they've found out not much gets in the way. Hopefully somewhere in-between the two...

Imelda is one of the UK’s most intelligent actors, I don’t doubt she’ll bring the warmth and weight to the character. As much as I adore Bette Midler, clips of her title number have left me grateful we get Imelda here.

Anyone else there on Saturday night? Yes I’ll be there for my final one of a seven show blitz over three days. Splashed out on Front Stalls G35 as I loved Imelda in Gypsy. Also seeing Next to Normal, Kiss Me Kate, Mean Girls, Standing at the Skys Edge, Mario the Maker Magician and Kathy and Stella. Say hello if you recognise me. Hoping the current forecast for rain improves ☔️

Not the famous Today Tix £15-ah-still-terrible-seats Offer for Dolly!! What’s happened to ticket sales for this? Just got myself Stalls Row D extreme side for £15. Had those seats before and the view is fine, although you see the show from an angle. I will be seeing the show from the front row in my first visit. Thought a second visit for just £15 in row D Stalls wouldn't be too bad. You can't go wrong with that price!

As there's so little buzz from their social media, this might get you going.
Its Seth Rudetsky deconstructing Hello Dolly, Gavin Creel, As the parade passes by.
Its great.

With all love and respect to Harry Hepple who I've enjoyed very much in everything I've seen him in, all this has done is make me wish Gavin Creel was coming over for this one. 😂 He and Kate Baldwin are absolute heaven on that cast album.

This is honestly why I don't really care if the front row view is restricted. I just want to hear the score. 🤩

They are advertising it as the biggest band in a London Theatre. I think the last time we had a big orchestra was 42nd Street.
