Leslie Odom Jr will likely win over LMM and Danny Burstein and likewise with the supporting roles.

You know how I said the other day what will this year's snub be? Well we finally have an answer... America Psycho A lot of people seem to be quite angry over this. It's still two more nominations than it got at the 2014 Olivier Awards! At least it still has plenty of nods for the Drama Desk and Outer Critic Awards.

I would be very happy for Danny Burstein to win. He's wonderful in Fiddler. :-)

I've been trying to make some guesses on who will win best musical. I haven't got a clue! Not sure about best revival of a musical. That could go to anyone. I have a sneaky suspicion Alex Brightman will get leading actor. Most people are saying it's between Danny and Leslie, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it went to Alex. I've seen Lin, Leslie and Alex and Lin was by far my favourite though. Leading actress is definitely Cythina Eviro's. That one's obvious. Supporting actor is a tricky one. I've heard some really good stuff about Christopher Fitzgerald in Waitress and they may give it to him, but it's most likely Daveed's award. I'm pretty sure Renée's going to win supporting actress.

Yeahhhh I don't think Jennifer is very happy... It wouldn't surprise me if she left early now. This week is her last week anyway haha, she announced departure from the show a month ago. she only signed on for 6 months, including previews.

The tweets deleted now. She should've worded her tweet differently. Instead of this passive aggressive tweet, she should just said "I didn't really expect to be nominated, so happy for Cynthia and Danielle though. "

The lack of appreciation from critics and sections of the audience for American Psycho is something I found depressing. I realised a while ago that a number of shows that I've similarly appreciated have resulted in that same disparity though. I saw what I perceived as a cleverly integrated whole matching style with substance; the substance affecting me deeply emotionally whilst the style providing the visceral thrill. Instead, however, I read from others a fixation on the style with their seemingly unable to access the substance that I saw.
Is it that the style is too overwhelming for some so it becomes the totality of their experience? American Psycho certainly doesn't hold back with the sensory overload (I love sensory overload!). Which brings me to Hamilton that is able to have its stylistically innovative cake which appears to nourish nearly everyone (okay, I'll drop the metaphor).
I haven't seen Hamilton but Miranda treads a careful middle way whereby the strength of actual history and the palatability is high compared to American Psycho's cousins in violence and tattered morality such as Three Kingdoms and Sarah Kane. Bright Star, School of Rock, Waitress, Shuffle Along even are small c conservative. Other murderous shows justify their body count, such as the social background of Sweeney Todd, American Psycho is a giant FU to consumer capitalism and The Donald. No wonder it got stiffed, if the substance don't get you, the two fingers to the audience's way of life will.*
*Whenever I go to New York the well-heeledness of the audience surprises me compared to the London audience, ticket prices playing a large part I imagine. When I saw Urinetown the audience, irony of ironies, was more Wall Street than anything else.

Yeahhhh I don't think Jennifer is very happy... I'm surprised that Jennifer wasn't nominated. She deserved to be and, for a Broadway debut, she seemed pretty good. Come me over to London Jennifer, we'll welcome you!!

Come me over to London Jennifer, we'll welcome you!! The problem is, is that that was quite a competitive category. Sadly you can't nominate everyone.

So, Hamilton to sweep the board?

I think we are all forgetting a very interesting race that has not been mentioned and is another one that could get in the way of Hamilton's record break and that is Choreography... will it be Andy or will it be Savion for Shuffle Along?
I have read many interesting thoughts; ranging from "Savion SHOULD win, but he won't" to "it depends what is considered Choreography?" As Hamilton is very movement based whilst Shuffle is huge dance numbers etc... it is certainly shaping up to be one of the most interesting races of the night and one I could certainly see going either way!

So, Hamilton to sweep the board? I'm sure having multiple nominations will split the vote in some categories.

its no surprise that hamilton has set another record with all its nominations, interesting that its managed to do so with the lack of the sound design category (which The Producers and Billy Elliot had when they set the record for 12) and really interesting to read some peoples responses to it all!
i have just realised that i will actually be in new york for the tony awards ceremony so thats going to be really exciting to see those shows pre and post awards!

One problem with awards and none of them are exactly perfect, that is that people love one musical and I use Hamilton as an example and tick every catogory, so could have a Hamilton sweep with 13 Tonys, instead of looking at each catogory objectively and say perhaps best choreography and best support actor actually comes from another show that has been nominated.
I hope/fear it will be a Hamilton sweep, not that the show needs it.

Hamilton will pick up every award it is nominated for bar Leading Actor, Leading Actress and Choreography. That is my guess only, obviously having no inside knowledge or anything. I think those will go to Danny, Cynthia and Shuffle Along. I kind of hope they do too, just for the sake of making the night more interesting!

Something along the lines of she was not used for her talent, she was used for her celebrity. She wasn't surprised she wasn't nominated. That was it in basic. Think it is smart of her to say this the last week or two of performances for her.

I thought Hamiltons choreography was great but it only REALLY blew me away during Yorktown (in which it usually gets a round of applause in the middle of the song).
So I wouldn't mind Shuffle Along winning, especially from what I've heard about it. I'm seeing the show soon so I'll have a better view on it then.
