I guess we shall see- it might do well with the hen night crowd. It's nowhere near the cultural phenomenon it was at the time of the movie release. ummm..this is slated for Broadway. There's no such thing as a tacky "hen crowd" over there, not really at least and certainly not to the level of frequency you'd see in London.

I don't think you can compare Spiderman to Moulin Rouge.. Its a completely different market and target audience. Spiderman is aimed at kids and Marvel Fans (geeks) a high percentage I would say are not musical theatre fans. Conversely, Moulin Rouge captured the hearts of many Musical Theatre fans, specifically the young generation who are now in the early adult age-range who don't now need their parents to fund their theatre trips etc.

So the actual was news was of a double vinyl release of the original soundtrack, followed by "more news later in the year".

Exciting! The theatre in Boston that it's going to is ATG's newest venue, currently undergoing refurbishment. I wonder if they have a production stake and could bring it to the West End?

I actually went to Emerson College back in '99-2002/3!
I have seen a gazzillion touring companies in the Colonial Theatre (this was before Emerson bought it in the 2000's). I love that theatre, and I am happy it is being reopened.
I'll be in Boston in June and have booked to see Jagged Little Pill across the lake at the A.R.T. in Cambridge. I hope both these out of town tryouts run simultaneously in June (though it's unlikely). If they'd do I'd definitely check this out!

I really hope it's not Tveit. Way overrated. Couldn't understand what was the fuss all about in Next to Normal. He was serviceable, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Karen Olivo is great and a very dynamic performer. She was phenomenal in Hamilton. Doubt she'll open it on Broadway, she seems pretty content being semi-retired and living in Wisconsin.

Don't crucify me, but might Tveit not actually be a bit -too- handsome and dishy for the part?
Part of the attraction in the movie was that Ewan McGregor had this gawky geeky appearance, the young hapless fish out of water who fell for this "Goddess" of the stage (and who in turn fell for him just because he was different from all the smart suave rich types)?

http://instagram.com/p/BcxuZUCly49 Could Tam Mutu be playing Duke? Check out Karen Olivo’s Instagram profile, there’s a few pictures of the cast from the developmental lab. Not a fan of the costumes, but I guess they’re obviously going to be changed drastically for the official production. Dying to hear more about the lab.

Can we move this to international please? And if anyone says “yes but it might come to London” then can we then merge the two threads or move the Broadway shows that “might come to the UK” to the musicals section? It’s not clear admin. Thanks.

Just got my ticket for the second preview! I was surprised my Amex worked as non-American AmericanExpress cards don't work to unlock TicketMaster Amex pre-sales. Thank you, ATG!
It's a homecoming for me. I went to Emerson College from '99-2003 before they bought the Colonial, now Emerson Colonial. It's stuck to the library, dormitories, classes I attended and the nightclub I worked in back in the day. I saw just about every touring production at the beautiful Colonial and have fond memories of shows like Footloose, Hamlet (Kelsey Grammar), Waiting in the Wings with Lauren Becall, who I said hello to as I was walking in the foyer one cold morning to buy a student ticket, Fosse, Suessical and many more! Yay!

Those tickets are very expensive. I can only imagine what a premium in NY or WE would be if its $250 in Boston and the cheapest ticket $69.

Apart from the usual suspects,it sounds like this is the only ‘new’ show doing big business on the Great White Way.
