TallPaul, I have really enjoyed the Yorkshire Symphony. So thanks for that. Brought a tear to my eye. You will be pleased to hear that I will be in York over the coming weekend; last visited over thirty years ago,

Pleased you enjoyed it, lynette. I was in York myself on Monday. In a city that is 2,000 years old, 30 years is nothing! I've ordered a period of dry weather for you, with sunny spells.

He probably now thanks his parents for giving him such a distinctive name, but can you imagine, anita, growing up as a Gervase in post-war Rotherham? A great Yorkshire Day for Jonny Bairstow in the ODI. And even without his services, Yorkshire had an excellent first day at Chester-le-Street.

Ee, dunt time fly? It seems like only a year since I last posted on this thread.
All sorts of disparate counties now have their 'day', but Yorkshire Day is the original and best.
I shall be spending the day in both South Yorkshire and the West Riding...despite not going anywhere!
And this being summer, allegedly, it's Wensleydale cheese sandwiches for tea.
