Extension to 31 October 2020. Email from Sonia Friedman Productions last night www.tokillamockingbird.co.uk/#/ tickets on sale to general public on Friday 21 Feb at 10am, as a subscriber these are available now for exclusive presale. Except the link isn't showing past September .... But Encore Tickets have sent through an email so I've managed to book through them for the last performance. May to July sold out!

Is this a particularly healthy time for West End plays, and in particular things that have not transferred from the non-commercial sector? Leopoldstadt and Upstart Crow all seem pretty solidly sold out for a week or two, and doing well beyond that. Cyrano has been doing booming business and all sold to the end of the run. As you say TKAM is pretty much sold out for the first 5 weeks months ahead of opening. Even an old perennial like Uncle Vanya seems to be selling out or close enough.

Casting is everything. My Nebraskan buddy is popping over again for Uncle Vanya because of Richard Armitage.
For me, To Kill A Mockingbird - I *might* have gone. Put Aaron Sorkin in the mix and I have/had no hesitation in booking. I could watch West Wing every day for the rest of my life. His The Newsroom is excellent TV. His stuff is class.

Richard Armitage is great in Uncle Vanya!
I would see it again if it weren't so expensive.
Going to See Mockingbird in couple of months, and really looking forward to it.

Rhys Ifans until 10th Oct only. Oooooooooooo interesting! I did love him as Scrooge in the Old Vic's A Christmas Carol but am, frankly, puzzled by his casting as Atticus Finch. Still going early previews and (currently) last night.

Rhys Ifans until 10th Oct only. So is this already extending past the end of the September booking period?

Has anyone heard yet about the rescheduled dates for this yet? I know they were hoping to have new dates confirmed this month but maybe it's proving trickier than hoped. Wondering if it will ever actually happen now...

Wondering if it will ever actually happen now... It was selling really well and it's a known title so I imagine it'll eventually happen.

I’m pretty certain this will happen. It has Sonia Friedman and Scott Ruffin behind it, the set has been built, and it was selling incredibly well. They need sure fire hits and this is as sure fire as they come.
I guess the only question is when can it open and maybe they will have to find another lead actor to do it.

If you need/want to get a refund, email the Gielgud Theatre box office ( address is on the DM website) and they will issue it without any problem - at least that was my experience yesterday. I do wish they’d offer that as an option on the holding email they sent out as I think a lot of people may assume that it’s not an option.

Thanks for the tip. I do really want to see the show so I think I'll hang fire and hope I can make the new dates, whenever they may be. Currently my diary is very empty...

This was my first email about one of my bookings being moved. It is a real pity but as is pointed out above, sure fire hits such as this are going to give the West End a boost when things reopen. I'm still holding out for Mr Ifans. I think he'll be terrific as Atticus.

All I've had is an email saying I will receive my rescheduled date by the end of this month. But I had booked for later in the run, so I'm expecting a date in August 2021.

Interesting that Rhys Ifans' name has come off the artwork and the email says 'Please note that all casting will be announced at a later date' - has he had to back out?

Interesting that Rhys Ifans' name has come off the artwork and the email says 'Please note that all casting will be announced at a later date' - has he had to back out? Anything is possible. He was only in it for a limited run (presumably to be replaced once the original run ended, based on ticket sales) so perhaps he has other commitments that makes this impossible now. Or maybe he might even become the replacement - anything could happen once we get to the other side of this virus.

Another actor is replacing Rhys Ifans.
A shame as Ifans is so wonderful on stage, but he has filming commitments now.
His name begins with R though..
