The nominations are announced next week, any guesses for nominations? Considering Hamilton isn't eligible this year (it was eligible last year when it was Off-Broadway) this could be interesting.

I am really surprised that Jennifer Hudson has been snubbed at both the Outer Critics' and Drama Desk, whilst Danielle has been nominated everywhere bar the Drama League (which ironically Jennifer is nominated)... it does make me wonder if we will see Jennifer snubbed at the Tony's.
AND NO ACTING NOMS FOR SHUFFLE ALONG?! NOT EVEN AUDRA!

It's really all about the four actors from 'She Loves Me' for my money. Disappointed Gavin Creel didn't get a mention but the four nominated are amazing. I don't think it will happen but I'd love to see Zachary Levi, Laura Benanti, Nicholas Barasch and Jane Krakowski win a full sweep of the musical awards.

Sad Laurie Metcalf was left out of yet another set of nominations. Because the show was panned it seems she is being left out, which is a shame because she was phenomenal. Also surprised The Spoils has been left out of all awards.

I can see it being head to head between Laura or Cynthia for the Tony. I would like to see both win preferably haha! Laura was robbed with Women on the Verge so for that reason I want her to win, but Cynthia is incredible in everything she does so I would love to see her honoured too!

I don't think anyone will be able to stop Cynthia to be honest. It's just such a "give me an award!" type performance though that it puts me off slightly. I think Laura is sensational in SLM though, a fantastic actress, great comedienne and a glorious singer all in one delectable package.

If anyone is going to beat her, Laura is the most likely... and let us not forget, the Women on the Verge role was much the same kind of "give me an award!" role which, quite literally, gave her every award under the sun apart from the Tony haha. So I wouldn't count her out entirely just yet. We will have to see what happens really.

And I don't agree with the Beverly critics', as I think she is fantastic in all the roles she has played thus far!

The WOS Awards are a joke though. Anyone with a big enough fanbase can win one, talented or not. ;-)
The problem with Jennifer in Color Purple seems to be (and trust me, this suprised me) is that she is simply not sexy at all as Shug. And being sexy (or acting sexy if you prefer) is kind of essential for the role. I can only go with friends' reviews as I have not seen the show but those friends have always given honest and valid opinions on shows so far. :-) I won't get to see Jennifer myself as I'll go when Heather has taken over.

I can't compare Jennifer to Beverly (I have seen neither on stage) so there's no way I can judge if one or both deserved their nominations or lack of them. :-)
And I didn't mean Jennifer would never have had a chance of getting nominated. But like I said, I am not surprised she wasn't based on reports of her performance.

But like I said, I am not surprised she wasn't based on reports of her performance. I understand, and same on the Jennifer front for me, I can't judge as I have never seen her. I am more surprised for the fact she is the "star" casting of the show, usually with the Tony's (until recently at least) it has been the star getting the nomination, and not usually the trained performer. Though this has changed considerably in the past few years so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised...

Don't use the Drama Desk Awards as a barometer for the Tonys. I have always found these awards are more American centric.

Normally snub us!!!
Into the Woods beat The Phantom of the Opera for best musical. if you please. Show Boat beat Sunset Boulevard. Cats and Miss Saigon didn't even get nominated.

Beverley Knight has a really stunning voice, but I felt that her acting was a bit weak. I went on Matt Cardle's first night and Matt really out-shone Beverley

It wouldn't surprise me if Jessie Mueller wins the Tony actually. The buzz is solely about her performance.
