I completely forgot about it until various posts appeared on here but now having caught up with it, the Mischief theatre gang have really done a fantastic job with this one. Thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and just what we need at the moment.

Unfortunately, didn't love it tonight. Some bits did really get me but found quite a lot of it old and predictable. I feel that by now a lot of it is variations on things that have been done previously. There's only so many types of things that can go wrong. I found myself thinking "That's similar to TPTGW/PPGW/TCAABR/etc.". It was enjoyable enough but I smiled at the most of the mishaps rather than laughed uproariously.

Sure, but there was quite a lot of the first reason of The Goes Wrong Show that I really enjoyed. It’s the cleverness that gets me. For example, the predictable Halo / Hello extended sequence was obviously from PPGW, but the play on words with Hiya / Higher cracked me up.

I was a bit disappointed by some of the language in last night’s show - I appreciate they weren’t the worst swears in the world, but I’ve always thought of Mischief as being 100% safe for family audiences in the past.
But dodgy words aside, I loved the hello/hiya section and Chris falling victim to a badly aimed fire extinguisher.
And while I agree with the comments above about some of the act now seeming old/predictable, I thought the idea of unfolding the set to mirror turning a page was cute, and the out-of-control musical section did make me wonder if that wasn’t a possible area for them to explore further in future.

The musical section was probably my favourite part of the show. I remember reading an interview with the 3 writers around the time Magic Goes Wrong opened which said that if they hadn't done that show they might well have done a Musical Goes Wrong. I wish they had as I think I would have enjoyed that much more, being someone who enjoys musicals but doesn't like magic shows.

Series 2 starts Monday 27th September at 20:30 on BBC1! I wonder what settings we will have this time? Hopefully a trailer should be up soon.

We now have a synopsis for episode 1:

We now have synopses for all the episodes! 5 in all, one is a two parter!
Summer Once Again
Episode 1 of 5
A coup in the ranks means that Robert is in charge of this week’s show, and he is not going to accept the usual shambolic standards as they present a Downton-esque family saga.
The Most Lamentable...
Episode 2 of 5
Chris returns to the leadership of the Cornley Drama Society and puts on a production of a little-known play by Shakespeare.
There Is No Escape
Episode 3 of 5
An American prison break drama is this week’s offering from the Cornley Drama Society, full of intrigue, excitement and double cross.
The Cornley Drama Festival Part 1
Episode 4 of 5
A different sort of show this week, as Chris asks each cast member to put on their own performance in order to head off a coup.
The Cornley Drama Festival Part 2
Episode 5 of 5
Continuing last-week's Disaster Festival, The Cornley Drama Society put on four more performances.

Sounds like the behind-the-scenes stuff will come more to the fore. Did they largely ignore that in the first series or am I misremembering?

All episodes in series two will be available on iPlayer from tomorrow evening! What! That's amazing! I mean, it's also kind of sad because I'll run out of new episodes in a day, but still, great news! I can't wait for the Shakespeare one!

While "Summer Once Again" had its amusing moments, to be honest I think I would have rather seen the entire plot done once in normal time than the first scene done repeatedly & the rest of it skipped through. It probably didn't help that less than 2 weeks ago I saw the 3-actor adaptation of The Hound Of The Baskervilles that's just started a UK tour & that repeated all of Act 1 sped-up at the start of Act 2, so I've only just almost seen the same gimmick. I wonder if I've seen too much farce/physical comedy over the last few years, to diminishing returns.

Well I've watched them all and I have to say, the first is the weakest, after that they pick up considerably. Episode 2 in particular is now one of my favourite things they've ever done.
I loved the two part Cornley Drama Festival, they finally bring in the characters and their relationships and it's quite different. I could have watched a whole episode of their take on 70s farce, absolutely the best part of this series!

I then watched episodes 2 & 3 last night. I've not yet watched 4 & 5. Episode 2 was definitely my favourite of the first three. Episode 3 was a bit too reminiscent of TCAABR in places.

Just finished the last episode. Overall, once I got past episode 1 which for me I didn’t really find very funny, the rest of the series was a blast. The very last episode’s 70’s farce was just superb. That is the sort of thing I would love Mischief to develop into a proper full show. The comedy songs were also a highlight for me. This series is definitely worth a rewatch later on.

The last two episodes by far are the best they've done with the series. It was lovely to see each character get their own little show; even if Dennis' was 10 seconds long! It felt a bit like one of Michael Green's Coarse Acting shows that I believe Mischief were originally inspired by.

Watching this on a weekly basis so just watched episode 2. Some real laugh out moments especially when the kings costume came off.

I'm trying so hard to be loyal, but last night didn't raise even a titter for me - I guess too just too familiar and predictable now, but i will still keep watching. Such a great cast.

Interestingly in contrast to most others here I found Summer Once Again stronger than the other two "regular" episodes. Possibly because I've been in enough rehearsal rooms where if you do something multiple times it can get weirder... The whistle-stop-tour of the rest of the play was good fun, the falling autumn leaves / wheeling the mother past etc. Plus who doesn't enjoy a well timed "nob" gag?
The Cornley Drama Festival had some brilliant moments, from the quick "Kitchen Sink Drama" scene to the equine challenged 70's farce, all good fun. Especially Jonathan's one and only chance to get in a scene properly with his ensemble number! Oh and Sandra's radio drama.. basically all of it was top quality in one way or another.
