Great fight scene last night between Fiz, Gemma and Rita with her umbrella. Corrie does fab female fights. Always very funny.

For a moment I thought the hospital DJ (Audrey’s new love interest) was Basil Brush’s Mr Derek, but a bit of Googling told me it’s Half a Sixpence and Mrs Henderson’s Ian Bartholomew! (Watch out, Eileen...! )

Yep, I recognized him but couldn't place him. As a regular theatre goer I often notice that when watching TV I recognize someone but cannot place them. It is often someone I saw in a show a few weeks before rather than a "well known" character actor who may have numerous roles across a lot of TV shows.
The Phelan story has been dragged out with no real twist.
My mum is convinced since Tony Warren passed away the quality of Corrie's storylines has declined. He was still a consultant on the show for years after he stopped his direct involvement so I don't know if he had any veto on certain storylines.

Considering we have been promised the denoument of the Phelan story any time now, I was really disappointed that in tonight's extra episode of Corrie we had a particularly silly and badly constructed storyline concerning the Rover's trying to become a child friendly pub taking up valuable time that should have been spent on getting to the end of Phelan.
The writers have quite enough additional material with the new love interests for Liz and Audrey, not to mention whatever is happening with Eva's pregnancy and the Connor family doings, without that really inconsequential and meaningless activity in the Rover's.
If we don't get a decent conclusion to the Phelan/Eileen storyline tomorrow night I will be VERY annoyed. Hrrumph!!

I hate to tell you this, tony, but I have a feeling it might only be denouement (Part 1)... Aren’t they going out in a boat in tonight’s episode? I reckon we’ll have Phelan, after the big reveal (“I’m a bad’un, love...”), trying to push our Eileen overboard. He succeeds but she drags him with her, much to his surprise. She manages to climb back into the boat, watching him drift out to sea... Roll credits. Monday’s episode will see Anna released and back with Kevin, Gary and Seb released with full police apology, Seb becoming Gary’s best mate, Sean moving back in with Eileen to help her deal with the flack she’s getting from the neighbours, Eileen buying a scratchcard from Dev’s only to win millions to pay off the neighbours her husband swindled blah, blah, blah. And then... (***cue Jaws music***) in six months time... guess who rolls up on the cobbles? Denouement (Part 2) due Christmas 2019. Just my theory!

Oh Caiaphas – either you are psychic (I won't mention Rosemary) or you are in a relationship with one of the Corrie writers! Everything you say is unfortunately only too plausible and is just as likely to happen as all the other implausible things that have been going on lately. Now if you can only explain to me what will be happening with Eva's baby, a story line that I have completely lost track of, then I will know that you are better informed about the doings on the Street than the current creative team. Perhaps we can call it denouement (Part 1a)......

Well that was hardly worth waiting for. Think I`m going to give up on Corrie ( & Emm) as I did East years ago.

^ Some people are so hard to please. They found the exact location of Eileen and Phelan from Liz’s “I don’t know... I think they’re staying somewhere near a lighthouse.” They got from Weatherfield, through Manchester, to a seaside location in Friday night traffic in about four and a half minutes and located them immediately. It got dark in twenty seconds. He died like Javert. And Eileen was still back at the cottage for a cuppa with her mates before the credits rolled...

Oh dear, you clearly have never watched Doctor Who, or grasped the concept of time travel.
As my dad used to say "It's as far fetched as sh*t from China".

Well, that's me finished with Corrie. A ludicrous end to a long storyline. So many ridiculous things about it.
Why did Seb ad Gary not notice the boot sticking out of the concrete pillar? How did they locate them? - "by a lighthouse"!! Why did it suddenly go dark? Just so the scene was more "dramatic at night"?
and don't get me started on Eva's baby - how has no-one noticed she is 7 months pregnant? Is she just going to give it to Leanne? I really don't care!
Dreadful editing, the whole show is annoying me!

Eileen stamping on Phelan's fingers was hilarious, and a suitable end to a ridiculous plot.

Eileen stamping on Phelan's fingers was hilarious, and a suitable end to a ridiculous plot. Sadly, not so. Ridiculous plot – yes, but the end? No! It's not a spoiler because the episode has been broadcast, but to show Phelan safe and sound (relatively) in a pub or guest house after all the publicity about his end just seemed like a total insult to the viewers. I won't comment on him sewing up the gash in his leg with a normal needle and thread because perhaps he might get an infection and die of sepsis! Wither now with the Phelan plot?

I was more annoyed than surprised at the "Easter Stunt" pulled by Phelan. It was pretty obvious the fall into a harbour would have been survivable. Hoping he will die of sepsis now. Guessing it may go that Eileen will get banged up. Then, around the week of the BGT finals, when they show Corrie later, Phelan will seek hospital help, be found, confess and Eileen will be sprung. They can't drag this out until Christmas, can they?! Oh yes they can!

I was going to reply “Oh no they can’t” as Corrie has now become nothing more than a panto... but I reckon you’re right!

Nice to see musical theatre star Anna-Jane Casey making an appearance in Corrie last night as the woman wanting to photograph Robert's pecs while he fiddled with his wok...

I commented on that in a musical theatre group I'm a member of on Facebook. One of the other members said she must be desperate for work, but it gives her a massive profile even though she was only in it for two episodes.

I would imagine the pay is good too, even for a couple of episodes, and it's always worth boosting the CV too especially with a major player like Corrie. A-J will be touring with Calendar Girls from August this year too, so the work is coming in :-)

I see the latest issue Corrie is tacking is male suicide as that is how Aidan is leaving the show. Sad to see a character go like that , but quite timely with the news that that is how Avicci died.

What an episode tonight. Brilliantly written and acted by the whole cast. Here's hoping it may help someone with this issue highlighted.

Gail's monologue was amazing, but Aidan's father's reaction was a whole new level. Also, I was very impressed by the David / Shona sequence too. Corrie is back, finally. It was a great episode and so well acted. Interesting to see the different reactions to the suicide and a great discussion point as to whether the victims are selfish. The previous episode showing Aiden sobbing uncontrobally at the end was heart breaking.

How come I can remember that someone obtained the keys to Eileen’s house and emptied it of its contents but she can’t? She’s told several people about dodgy goings-on now: brick through the window, odd phone calls, being locked in the cab office, yet seeing her belongings loaded up in the back of a truck in the middle of the street, not to mention that her keys have been copied, has eluded her...
Ryan’s brought a touch of camp to the street...
Pat’s big week next week... Hoping he won’t get the golden buzzer again.

I thought the same about the furniture episode. Also did anyone notice the nod to the early days of Corrie last week when the 3 old ladies were in the Rovers drinking milk stout and gossiping. Anyone old enough will remember the days of Ena Sharpness, Minnie Caldwell and Martha Longhirst doing the same.
