Ladies and gentlegerms, we know her as a Broadway superstar but did you know Laura Benanti stands in for Melania Trump when she's not available?

She's back. Debunking the lies in that book.
Sometimes I have the dead eyed stare of contentment . . .

That will be great as long as the only song she sings from My Fair Lady is I Could Have Danced All Night!
Fabulous singer, but her accent in Wouldn't it be Loverly was sadly all wrong!
Jeez it's expensive though - nothing under basically £35 - are these sort of Cadogan Hall concerts always like that?! And the side stalls are annoyingly priced to make it pretty much impossible to just buy one ticket there (unless the system doesn't care about single seats).

She better sings Model Behavior from WOTV. Love her!

No normally they have £22 or £25 ones upstairs so that IS expensive. Ok unpopular opinion she's talented but lordy something about her rubs me up the wrong way (admittedly only via her social media, which is a poor way to judge someone).

I did give a little whoop of excitement at this announcement. I agree though that at times on social media she comes across poorly but that sometimes seems to be the curse of that medium. She seems to have had a habit of poor attendance if the rumour mills are to be believed but she has a sparkling wit and a beautiful voice.

Went to book a (belated) ticket for this today and was astonished to see how badly it appears to have sold so far, i was wondering if the prices are off putting and folks are waiting for deals? Or granted its not for a few months. In a slightly related fashion I was also looking at Jenna Russell and Judy Kuhn tickets and again they appear very sparsely sold. Mind you when I saw the prices I was less surprised, Cadogan Hall is at least a beautiful venue whereas the Leicester Square Theatre could best be classified as a well, dump. Am going to hold back now on booking all due to the prices.

I will be going and if they start to sell quickly I'll get it booked, but otherwise I'm holding out for offers 😀

She is one of my favourite performers but I never know what I'm doing that far in advance otherwise I would have happily paid those prices for her. It does seem like pretty fair prices and then the one premium band!

Fingers crossed there'll be deals. TodayTix already have a discount on Laura Michelle Kelly who is also at Cadogan Hall (February), and I remember seeing deals for Carrie Hope Fletcher, Megan Hilty and Shoshana Bean who all performed there as well, so it's looking likely 🤞

Anyone concerned about Laura extending into July with My Fair Lady, her concert in London will go ahead as planned.

Anyone else go last night? Warm, engaging and naturally funny with a glorious voice - that is when she sang. There was an awful lot of chat and I didn't see the point of her special guest. The set was a bit shapeless but she was wonderful in the "theatre" songs and the a capella encore. Super.

I was there, she was fabulous. I loved the chat, she's so comedically gifted I didn't mind that at all. But agreed on Bianca's appearance, that was pointless and clearly just an attempt to boost ticket sales!

Laura Benanti is the funniest woman alive. Honestly I laughed like a drain for two and a half hours, and just had a wonderful evening. Loved the My Fair Lady opening - so nice to see her get to do it in person! The Bianca Del Rio duet, whilst unnecessary, was to me hilarious. Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening.

I was sure there was another Laura thread, but her name has been spelt wrong. So I thought I'd bring this back to cause major confusion.
My main thought about the concert was that Laura was born 30 years too late as she would have been perfect for one of those TV variety shows of the 60's/70's built around a funny talented performer, Carol Burnett springs to mind. I don't think that style of show is popular anymore which means she is best suited to musical theatre which sadly limits her to Broadway primarily (not for her, for us). She's natural, unforced and very funny, what separates her I think is she's quick and thinks and responds with humour that feels organic (Yuck I hate that word in this context, apologies)
Her voice is just wonderful, though I did think in her more poppy numbers she had a tendency to run her words together or maybe that's just the different style.
I really didn't want to go out yesterday but am so glad I did as it was an excellent concert. Todd Almond as well, her accompanist, and a very talented singer/songwriter himself, was also brilliant. (I have been seeking his early solo albums for years, if anybody knows where they can be found, fair means or foul, let me know!)

Oh and on my way out of the concert, I walked down the stairs next to Andy Mientus 😀 #RIPKyle I thought I saw him on the tube, and then again at the interval with a very 1980's George Michael era clone but as per with me I wasn't sure. And he was so tiny tiny, being approached by a great lumbering doofus like myself would have been terrifying for him.
