I am delighted to announce the triumphant return of the Gillian Lynne Circle to the LWT booking site. (It's disappearance will remain a strange affair; a mystery never fully explained). Is it me or has it gone again? Seems to be back again!

I’ve just had my email for the change in dates. I’m still in the circle (so I guess it exists) and, curiously, the “new” date is the same date as last time they shifted the start date. It’s mid November so hopefully Covid will be mostly a fading memory (optimist me).

Do you think this is all going to be monochrome sets and costumes, possibly until the ball scene where it all bursts into colour? All the glimpses of sets including that backdrop have been grey and CHF is prancing about in black Lacy netting tops in all of her social media, and in the latest video.

I think there was a video with Emerald Fennell a while ago (which I only very recently found out isn't pronounced like the vegetable, sorry Emerald!) where she said that most people were traditionally fairy tale, and Cinders was the odd one out. But I don't really know what that means — the scenery surprised me, I thought it was going to be more 'twee' and storybook, and have Cinders clomping around in her boots while everybody else was in folk dress. Having said that, VHB has only been pictured wearing black hasn't she?

Carrie's singing on All Star Musicals tonight. IKAHAH probably? I feel like we had an overload of promotional Bad Cinderella performances! I know it isn't necessarily anything like the show will be, but the background setting looks lovely. http://instagram.com/p/CMm6AARjIB4

I couldn’t make my new date and put in the rebooking request on Monday evening. I haven’t heard back, should I worry? Anyone else still waiting? (Frozen was sorted really quickly for me)

Yes, we’ve been bumped up a price band or 2 I think...might actually see the stage now.

Getting really sick of Bad Cinderella. It has a good melody but the lyrics are beyond horrid.
I'd like to see some of the other songs previewed thus far getting more promo. They are much better.

An odd response.
It's been pimped out several times now, which does make sense as it's clearly the Big Number from the show, but after so many performances of it on TV/Youtube/whatever it's already sounding very stale.
What's so bad about wanting to see what else the show has got to offer?

Yes, it made me very happy to see another song get the spotlight.
In my opinion IKIHAH is vastly superioer to BC.

I mean the fact that IKIHAH is actually an original song, whereas BC is a lazy carbon copy of In My Own Little Corner from R&H Cinderella, probably made it ultimately the better 'original' song

It just seemed a very strong statement. When an artist brings out an album they release a single to publicise it, so one expects to hear it a fair bit. It’s hardly a new concept.

I did like the screen behind her. I told my mum I'd seen CHF in Addams, and she asked if she was using the same costume for tonight. I think this alternative version that's being kept secret is actually starting to put me off at this point... I don't like all the black and eyeliner much!

Remember...whatever we think Cinderella is, it isn't! We are not ready!

I suspect she’s an international hit woman disguised as a fairytale character, who falls for a kids tv presenter but their love can never be...

Remember...whatever we think Cinderella is, it isn't! We are not ready! Although presumably we're ready enough to pay over £100 for seats? (I will say that some of the musicals I've enjoyed the most have been when I didn't know the story going in. But it's a bit annoying different when somebody keeps saying "Oh it's going to be amazing, but I'm not going to tell you why!")

I remember the last time ALW was really enthusiastic about a story. Couldn’t stop raving about how Ben Elton had “unlocked” the story for a Phantom sequel....

I also remember the unlocking. However: - Love Never Dies did run over a year and made it significantly past a cast change. Though that was a gulf away from what was wanted for LND, I think that would really be a success for a new British sung through musical in the current climate if Cinderella achieved it. - Emerald Fennell is probably better at this sort of thing than Ben Elton.

Would add - (recent) past performance is the best predictor of how good/bad/to one's taste something will be.
For ALW in the last 20 odd years, that's Beautiful Game, Tell Me (new songs) Woman in White, Love Never Dies, Wizard of Oz (new songs), Stephen Ward, School of Rock.
If mixed up in that lot there's enough you find enjoyable, chances are you'll enjoy this I'd guess. If there isn't chances are you won't!
Musically at least, it's highly unlikely to be a radical departure from these styles.

She has next to no experience of writing for the stage let alone creating a book for a musical. So we really don't know if she is better than anyone at this sort of thing. She is talented but musicals are a long way from what she has done up to this point

I just can't remember seeing a musical theatre song as heavily promoted as that one singular song before the show opens, that's all. I've seen other people say they are already sick of it too.
