They were vague about the ‘Covid precautionary measures’ they were putting in place Maybe someone is isolating and they’re just complying until Monday when all bets are off and the mingling can begin

How many people work on Cinders on a day? 30 odd cast members, plus the band, plus I'd guess a good 20 technical, then front of house and box office staff... Maybe 70 cabs to and from peoples homes which could be an hour or more away. It just wouldn't be financially viable or practical to have 140 long cab trips a day. I do agree. I may sound brutally pragmatic but....just til Press Night? Opens a can of worms re. are you protecting us, or the show? And yes, an unlucky moment can happen even in a more protected setting, but public transport isn't what I'd use if in a crucial moment in my job. One day we'll let people live in all those half empty office blocks that early and night workers have to expensively commute past! Things change mid-August when the requirement to self isolate falls away for those who are double vaccinated - just hope that we get there without occurrences in the meantime requiring much tighter control of events. You set me thinking, Max. Interesting point about early and night workers expensively commuting past half-empty office blocks. Covid seems to have really unearthed the flaw in capitalism, namely that it only works if you keep feeding the beast. If things change (such as for a pandemic) suddenly these trophy offices are mere trinkets that mean nothing because those within them are told (or able) to work from home. Over time, it may be that large businesses with such offices realise that much of the "work" that gets done is of little-to-no real world worth, if those performing the work are able to do so at home effectively at their own leisure. Productivity is already very low for the UK, and lockdown didn't help that situation. So perhaps the future looks more promising for the "average Joe" who can perhaps live closer to work in repurposed offices without the drain on finances or time that commuting brings. To do that though would diminish a large part of the economy which drives and distributes wealth across the food chain. I hope that Covid might teach us all something, but it seems the rich got richer, the poor got poorer, and the safety net of a capitalist society has given way to a dog-eats-dog way of life. At the moment, the arts are being sacrificed and, in some cases, breathing their last breath, while elite sports and high volume crowd sports proceed regardless. I've been banging the drum for theatres to open and for rules to be relaxed, but I'm on the fence at the moment regarding whether now is the time. Some say now or never, others say wait. My hunch is that things might be taken out of our hands with a spike in numbers which forces mandatory testing, track and trace etc if we wish to live in a post-lockdown society.

It’s probably that someone’s Lateral flow test has tested positive and they are waiting for the PCR to confirm or contradict it.

They seem a little more optimistic about Monday going ahead than that. Tickets are still up for sale. After the storm of angry comments they got on social media, you'd think if they were almost certain they'd have to cancel then they'd at least take the tickets off sale...

Monday is a press night so can’t imagine many tickets are on sale anyway

There were a lot up when it was originally announced. The moving seats were all for sale, plus a large amount of the stalls and circle. It's just the odd bubble now, but still seems strange to keep them on sale if they pretty much know they'll be cancelling. If they could give people more notice, surely it makes sense to. Seems to me like they're genuinely hoping to perform on Monday, and trying to make it work somehow.

If it’s the case that there’s someone tested positive, maybe the cast and crew can use this new trial scheme that Johnson and Sunak will use after being in contact with Javid.

No The sensible scheme of testing daily rather than grinding to a halt every time this happens. But it has to be available to all, not just government ministers.

Exactly, they treat us like total idiots and continue a policy of one rule for the plebs and a special rule for them. Information is minimal, just how they like it. The headline is ‘freedom day’, with the caveats in the tiniest quietist writing underneath at the bottom of the page. They’re bored of covid now and just want to move on.

Of course, a two-day fix to sort out one or two of the issues highlighted on this thread might serve them well before press night (i.e. use a Covid positive scenario to rehearse new ideas)...

The media are reporting on this ‘scheme’ incorrectly. It isn’t an elite scheme. I’m currently self-isolating and was called on Day 2 to take part in this scheme. So I am now testing daily and if negative, I’m allowed out for 24 hours fo attend work/exercise until my next test. You can also sign up to take part in the scheme if you’re self-isolating due to your details being given. Although, watching Jenrick on Andrew Marr at the moment, he doesn’t seem to know that this scheme is available to all either.

Monday night's show definitely happening and audience will be required to produce a negative COVID test result within 48 hours of arriving at the theatre, or they can get tested there. Seems sensible especially if the entire house is going to be on sale for the first time anywhere in 16 months !

Just had my email relating to tomorrow's performance, where you're required to show a negative lateral flow test result in the NHS app (even if double vaccinated). I applaud this, but it's very little notice, especially to get this showing in the app.
Thankfully I do have a test kit, so I will test this afternoon.
To be fair, you can get tested at the venue but you have to arrive very early. That isn't always an option for people who are working.
There's no mention of masks in the email, but I hope that's an oversight and they're still required.

I find it odd that one of the options is to take a photograph of your test result - you could be showing a picture from any date that belongs to anyone (you could just pull one from Google!).

If this is the case they are paying lip service to the safety protocols. It says on the day everyone was Covid free - The lateral flow tests aren’t very accurate in the main. So 🤷🏻♀️ What have been the protocols up to now then? Just social distancing and masks? Sounds like the masks will be abandoned from tomorrow

This can be on the NHS App, an NHS text or e-mail confirmation, or even a photograph of your test."

I have a ticket for tomorrow. I have a LFT booked at the chemist at 9.30 am. What are the chances of getting my result in time for this show?

Not particularly impressed at the same requirements for fully vaccinated attendees, but I suppose it's better than nothing, and I test 2-3 times a week anyway.
