I've just gone back and checked and the question was actually worded 'which, if any, were key factors in booking' (very slight paraphrasing for brevity)

You mean CHF is still generating sales off of her “name recognition”? Surely all of the “Hopefuls” have seen it by now. She bizarrely has a following and I know that a lot of the audience is there because of her. I’m pretty sure the cast will be relieved to say goodbye to this white elephant of a show.

At the risk of sounding criminally insane, I went to see this once again tonight as my friend who hadn't seen it is in town and wanted to go, and got us very cheap seats in the front row.
I'll 'cut to the chase', Carrie was in really bad voice tonight and missed almost all of the big notes, it was the end of the Heathers run level vocally.
I felt really bad for her as I seen on her SM that she said she's been workshopping a new show during the day all week and was exhausted, as well as being on tour last week. She's only human after all so I hope she gets a good sleep at the end of the week and isn't struggling!
Despite that, she seemed to have some serious mega fans in the house who were screaming every time she opened her mouth, but were respectful enough so it didn't bother me.
I also noticed that all the 'adult' references that were removed during the half term are back, so it must've been temporary after all. The only change I noticed is Prince Charming now says 'It was my duty to come and save the day', rather than 'It was my duty to come...' and pause, which I welcomed as the old line was pretty tacky in my opinion.
I'm going to make a point to not see this show again now as I'm not even a big fan, but it's as if the universe keeps dragging me into the Gillian Lynne!

If her voice is too tired to do both why did the production company allow it? It’s surely the equivalent of moonlighting two jobs. Which in some careers in forbidden. How could this ever have been a good idea? How does this help the integrity of the show? Audiences are being short changed.

How could this ever have been a good idea? How does this help the integrity of the show? Audiences are being short changed. I totally understand your point of view and I agree to an extent, but I also have a bit of empathy for her situation as well. Carrie is leaving in the next couple of months and is still a young actress, so it’s in her best interest to go for as many opportunities that are given to her as possible, so I’m not mad at her for doing the workshop. I would say the reason I brought it up is because I’m a singer so probably notice these things more than the average punter…but I actually overheard a couple of people commenting on her voice not being in great shape during the interval and I felt slightly mortified for her. It was really unstable throughout the show and every version of the “I’ll forget you” note was really dodgy, so I got nervous for the final time she did it, when she has to repeat the note three times in succession. I was really rooting for her, but unfortunately the last note was a disaster and had a rasp in it that I don’t think I’ve ever heard from Carrie as she has a really clean tone - think Bonnie Tyler! She seemed to get really emotional during the last line of Far Too Late as well and started sniffling as if she was actually crying - this could obviously have just been her embodying the character though, so I don’t want to open a can of worms about her mental health, but it seemed really genuine. Again though, I’m not mad at Carrie as it’s just one of those things in my opinion and she’s still a great singer, but I can totally see why some would feel short changed. Let’s hope she gets a good sleep and recovers quickly!

Honestly give the girl a break.
She could have been ill or anything. It could be absolutely nothing to do with the workshop. Every performer has off days.
For someone you all claim not to care about you seem to discuss her very often.

Acting is, for the most part, a freelance profession. It’s absolutely the norm of actors to juggle multiple different jobs. A freelancer having multiple clients is not “moonlighting” and not remotely comparable to an employee on a permanent contract moonlighting by juggling two jobs. Both legally and in custom, they are two very different things.
If her voice is suffering that’s something else, but what she’s doing is completely the norm for the acting industry.

No issue with Carrie doing the workshop as well, plenty of performers do it, but if her voice is suffering that badly why on earth doesn't she call out and let Georgina do the show. That's what alternates/covers are for.

Honestly, she can’t win in this situation. If she does the show, people comment on her voice being tired. If she calls out, people get miffed because of that and start saying things like ‘well if she was well enough to do the workshop…’
I doubt she knew it would affect her voice badly enough to be noticed. It’s totally normal for performers to do other work - workshops and readings are a great way to get your name in the hat for the future, and short one off gigs help pay the rent.

For someone you all claim not to care about you seem to discuss her very often. Apologies if you felt I was a bit harsh, but I feel that my comment was quite empathetic to be honest as I consider myself a Carrie fan and understand her situation. My OP had quite a few different comments about my experience of the show last night, but Carrie being in a noticeably bad place vocally was a huge part of it, which I heard other audience members commenting on, so I couldn't ignore it when discussing my trip. For what it's worth, I'm still glad she did the show as I'm a fan and was happy to see her again, also I've seen Georgina in the role and although she's great, I prefer Carrie. She's extremely talented and I have no doubt that she'll be back to smashing it after some much needed R&R after her hectic couple of weeks.

That's interesting to read because I saw the matinee yesterday and thought she sounded great, much healthier than I've heard her before. I hope she's alright!

Ah I understand thanks. I think what I’m saying though is at what point do you just admit you’re doing too much? An intense book tour followed by a two week workshop by day then the show at night? The actor is bound to be tired. Which is the priority? The contracted show which came first or all the other bits? I guess calling off a show where you’re headlining could become a difficult situation for a lot of others? And if audience members are noticing the difference then maybe time for a break?

This mystery “workshop” that’s happening at exactly the same time as Heathers is closed for filming…. Yes I did think that But she did talk about the most beautiful song she’s ever had in a musical and intricate harmonies. I love me some Heathers but That doesn’t really describe it.

That's interesting to read because I saw the matinee yesterday and thought she sounded great, much healthier than I've heard her before. I hope she's alright! Yeah, it could just be that the matinee took it out of her - I'm sure she's just tired! I forgot to say as well we had Michelle Bishop on as Stepmother last night and she also did a great job! There was one part during the ball scene where she accidentally referred to 'Marie' as 'Sebastian', which I found quite funny as she was basically saying Sebastian go over and impress Sebastian, but no one else noticed and she styled it out. The entire ensemble really are great in this show, they all look as if they're having the time of their life! Also, I just seen on SM that Georgina is on today, so I'm glad they're giving Carrie some rest for the day if she's not feeling 100%.

The obvious question is why a failure in the WE would be deemed viable on Broadway. Bizarre.
or it’s just PR fluff to save face for ALW.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella is to close in the West End after a disjointed 12-month run.
The musical, which is playing at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, will close on June 12, having begun previewing in June 2021.
It comes as the creative team of the show prepare to launch the musical on Broadway, where it will preview from February 2023, ahead of a March opening.
Lloyd Webber said in a statement: “I am incredibly proud of Cinderella. Not only did it get some of the best reviews of my career, but we led the charge to reopen the West End, ensuring that theatre and live entertainment remained relevant and in the news. While mounting a new show in the midst of Covid has been an unbelievable challenge, we held the government’s feet to the flames throughout their changes of heart during the pandemic.”
He added: “Now, I am really excited to get to work putting together a new production with [production company] No Guarantees for Broadway. Thank you very much to everyone involved, particularly our UK audiences who have loved and supported the show. See you next March on Broadway.”
The show, which has a book by Emerald Fennell, had an official opening night in August last year, having suffered numerous delays to the pandemic.
It was due to open in August 2020, but the ongoing closure of theatres meant this was then pushed back to October.
The opening was then moved again - to early 2021 - before being moved once more, with an opening intended to take place in July. However, a positive case of Covid among the cast meant this was also postponed, with the show eventually opening in August last year.
In December last year the show was suspended due to the spread of the Omicron variant, and it reopened in February.
Lloyd Webber turned down a chance to have the musical included as part of a pilot scheme to test the reopening of theatres with full capacities, adding that he had “made it crystal clear” that he would only be able to participate “if others were involved and the rest of the industry”.
He had previously indicated he was prepared to be arrested and open his theatres with full capacities, despite restrictions at the time. It has also since emerged that the musical was rejected as part of the Culture Recovery Fund, despite other productions being awarded money.
The musical, directed by Laurence Connor, stars Carrie Hope Fletcher and opened to largely positive reviews.
Despite this, it was snubbed at this year’s Olivier Awards, picking up just one nomination, for Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as the Stepmother.

“No guarantees for Broadway”? I thought they were casting it?? I smell bull 💩
I predict it will quietly die like Stephen Ward.

I’m actually reading this while standing in front of the Imperial theater, wondering when the Broadway transfer was going to be announced. From everything I am hearing here, it is going to transfer and this theater is on hold for it.
