Sorry to be that person who asks the question that has probably been asked before but what is the current Covid situation with this theatre - do you have to show a covid passport that you have had the vacccine and a negative test?

I was there last night - such a strange show! Like a cross between Magic Mike, panto and Heathers! I suppose it was fun (I was never bored!) and the moving seats were a novelty but it just felt like such a mess of ideas.

If only it had the bite and energy of ‘Heathers’ it would be so much better. Given that it appears to be about the snarkiest, shallowest town in France(?) it could be a lot snarkier! Two middle aged soap opera matriachs bitching at each other endlessly in a tuneless plinky plonky nothing of a song doesn’t quite cut it. Luckily VHB’s batsh*t crazy performance lifts it somewhat.

“I Know You” was probably my favourite part of Act I but the song sounds oddly familiar?. It sounds very similar to the melody used for “I Never Should Have Let Them Dance” and “The Countess and the Common Man” from Anastasia Yes!!! |

I'm having a bit of a full on theatre week and went to see this again tonight with a friend, we got front row tickets for less than £20 each as they were to the side (and in a sea of empty seats in the front row to be completely honest).
I wanted to ask does anyone know what is actually in the Stepmother's fake cigarette? I ask because tonight it smelled so strong and in the second act two people next to me started having a coughing fit form the smoke. I've seen the show a few times now and never noticed the smell before, but it was literally like sulfur tonight.
We could see the right side of the wings form our seat as well and after the bows at the end Carrie and Ivano started dry humping each other for ages when off the stage. We both found it really bizarre as they were off stage and no one could see them unless you were at the side...Who knows what the backstage shenanigans at Cinderella are at this point to be honest! (I'm not insinuating they're together btw, I'm sure they're just friends having a laugh).

Yeah I have to admit when she noticed me and my friend (Plus others near me) looking she started playing up and making faces and stuff, it was slightly cringe as Ivano is a good few years younger than Carrie, she looks like his much older sister. I just noticed that someone recorded some of it and Carrie added it to her story, so you're probably right... I like Carrie btw and thought she did very well tonight. I'm a singer myself though and feel that she could seriously do with some further training as her technique is quite bad and hinders her a lot. I sometimes felt myself feeling frustrated with her voice tonight as she was producing some off notes that were easily in her natural range, simply because she was pushing chest far too much instead of mixing...but I won't go on about it! Carrie always pushes for volume rather than natural resonance, I'd be very surprised if none of her vocal coaches have advised her to work on this, I mean she lost her voice during Heathers for this very reason. She's naturally very talented and I feel that she could adapt a healthier and more consistent technique very quickly if she put the work in, and it in turn would open a huge door of role possibilities for her - which makes it all the more frustrating for me! |

Incoming loudspeaker telling off from the Lord? 🤔😂 Just add it to his pre-show warning  It looks to me like she's trying and failing to pick him up (but why?) until she finally does but even so, I do wish she'd stop with the forced goofiness, since the new bows she seems to be trying very hard to show everyone how silly she is, perhaps because her bows are not as fun as the choreographed ones for everyone else. Interesting comments on her vocal technique, I was under the impression Carrie was untrained/didn't work with a vocal coach? |

Yeah I think Carrie’s official line is that she’s self taught with no vocal training, but I find it hard believe that a leading lady on the west end wouldn’t have been required to work with a coach at some point - don’t most shows have a vocal coach that each principle is required to work with?
I have a feeling that she’s maybe been given exercises and tips on how to improve her technique, but has a bit of an ego and doesn’t feel that she needs to improve as she’s always been told her voice is wonderful - this is pretty common to be honest in my experience.
I’ve always found it weird though that she often brags about not being trained, surely training and development should be required of anyone doing any job? It’s like your dentist saying “By the way I never trained, I’m just that good!” before giving you a filling. I seen Georgina in the role last year and the difference is very noticeable to be honest, Georgina has an incredible technique and sings the score like it’s nothing.
I grew up in a council estate and went to a standard council run school, but have a passion for singing and started working when I was teenager to fund myself private lessons with a vocal coach, so there’s really no excuse for Carrie!
