Victoria Hamilton Barritt carries this entire show on her back and is well deserving on her nomination - a genuinely comedic genius performance.
Otherwise I'm kind of glad the Oliviers ignored the show, because it sends a message that just because you herald something as the Second Coming of Christ in the way they would not shut the hell up about this for the ENTIRE pandemic, it doesn't mean that it's going to be good.
Here's hoping it means Emerald Fennell stops getting commissioned to write stuff too because I still do not understand why shes the hot new thing (both the book for this and screenplay for Promising Young Woman were...dreadful - although she won an Oscar so what do I know?!)

I mean, time will tell but from what I’m hearing, the plans are already well underway for a transfer. The theatre is already booked and it’s mostly cast. This transfer is happening. (Grabs popcorn and waits for the disaster to unfold) Gulp...(although the theatre was booked for LND too, so plans can and do change...). Do we know what theatre they've booked?

Emerald Fennell maybe a gifted actress and TV writer but speaking as theatre veteran she has little idea about writing for theatre. In his rush to grab the shiny new thing ALW got a dud I’m afraid. I’d love someone experienced to handle the mess and restructure the book into something that makes sense and is genuinely witty. Maybe then it would have a chance. The cast can only do so much with what they have.

At The Imperial, I believe. Surprised they didn't get the Shubert as POTUS is only a limited run.

But the critics and Mark Shenton insist this is a 5 star production. Insist? I thought they were just giving their opinion. I happen to agree with them. I happen to disagree with the critics and that is coming from a massive ALW fan or even enjoyed Stephen Ward. The critics only gave Cinderella 5 stars as it was the first big show to open after the pandemic, those adverts in their newspaper with their 5 stars flashed across the page, brings nice money into the coffers. The Olivier panel seems to have agreed with this by a snub. Victoria was more than deserving for her nomination and she could win an Oliver. At The Imperial, I believe. Surprised they didn't get the Shubert as POTUS is only a limited run. I thought the rumour was it was heading for the Imperial.

She says she's leaving in July but as we know, a lot can happen between now and then and she could extend. Oliver Tompsett says he was leaving And Juliet on twitter and then he extended. Of course 13 July could be her last day but things could happen if ALW wants her to stay, open the show on Broadway, etc.

I do find the current advertising on Facebook a bit misleading. They are promoting the show with the tagline "the clock is ticking to get your tickets..." and though it is probably meant to refer to the midnight element of the story also implies there's limited time to see the show.

I miraculously won the lottery to buy tickets for the one show next week I thought I could go to. Turns out I can’t, but I wonder if everyone who entered won? They can’t do the whole house at £25 a pop can they? I do want to see it again though.

I do find the current advertising on Facebook a bit misleading. For me it's the images being used on Facebook, particularly of the sisters(?) It looks like they're advertising a seedy strip club not a musical.

It won’t last 2 minutes. I simply cannot contain my contempt for this show. I feel sorry for anyone who actually thinks it’s good. The plot makes no sense. It’s utterly witless, in plot.., lyrics… direction.. book. It’s hideous to look at. Some terrible performances- HELLO IVANO. I don’t think it should get a free pass just because it’s ‘New’. It’s a shameful waste of money , time and the cast. Some of whom are talented.

If you loathe it so much go spend your energy elsewhere, why the need to bring down those who get joy from it, flaws and all?

Maybe its creators, & Ivano gets a mention (but he has to deliver some of the worst dialogue in MT history so it isn’t fully his fault). As I’ve said, I kinda want to see it again because I like the score more now but it really is the oddest mish-mash at a time that you’d think they’d pull out a crowd pleasing winner.

Oh I was referring to the 'I feel sorry for anyone...' part. I don't much care if anyone likes the show or not, I just get irked by putting down people that do. Let people enjoy whatever brings them joy.

"The oddest mish-mash" says it all. Even after all this time I still don't get what the show is trying to be. I stand by my original assessment that it feels like an undergraduate student show taken to Edinburgh...
