And she still owes me a ton of money from the third of the concert she didn’t perform in Manchester. Me too. Not to mention paying top price and being so far to the side that we were almost backstage. It was a disgrace.

I am still hoping that she does London at a decent time, but I’m not really convinced at this point. She was late for her last tour in a lot of places, but in London she was on time (9pm start), included songs scrapped from the US run and threw in an extra song (Like a Prayer) for good measure. Fingers crossed.

Ticketmaster has now updated all US start times to 10.30pm. UK remains at 8.30pm start. For now. At this rate if the start time changes to 10.30pm here, I might as well go see Come From Away around the corner first!

What was the original time for the US? Half eight? I don’t get it. Is there a TV programme she has to catch live each night?

No. She is an artist. She feels that she should not be bound by such outmoded constructs as time, inconvenience, other people, public transport...dull mundanity. She must be allowed her freedom to create...(a remixed version of the the same show she has been performing for the last twenty years)
Picture the scene: a relatively low key entrance after a big build up...controversial video clip...sweary talky bit...look I took guitar lessons bit...I’m gonna throw you one you know now but mess about with it...whole company run around the stage in celebration of life bit...three minutes of musically interesting appropriation of some other (normally non-white) artist that she has ‘discovered’ on her travels...lots of new songs only one of which is any good...Ray of Light that she thinks everyone loves but they’d much rather hear Express Yourself done properly...another run around the stage bit that goes all ‘stadium house’ with eerily good vocals (this happens several times throughout the night dependent on her chakras)....followed by either Holiday or Vogue depending on the moon....disappear down a pit in the middle of the stage without saying thank you or goodbye.
Audience traipse out weighed down by their £50 ‘tour book’ in a hessian tote bag (£17) that hasn’t oppressed anyone. Smug lanyard wearing VIP’s stumble out realising that they just spent a months salary on that, and she didn’t even sing ‘that one they like from that film’.

It's a disgrace. Any more than half an hour late and I'd be at the box office demanding a refund.

Madge doesn’t need to take flight for her knickers to be on show!

Even with the adjusted start times she still didn’t get to the stage until gone midnight for her Vegas gig on Thursday. Or conclude until 2.30. David Badella and Friends at The Alleycat used to have a more reasonable show schedule.. Madonna’s Vegas Shows Off to a Rocky Start

She’s clearly doing it on purpose now, for what reason, who knows. If it’s to court controversy then it’s a huge mistake because there’s nothing fabulous about your ‘fans’ chanting “REFUND REFUND”.
She’s misguided.

At least in Vegas they aren’t far from their hotel room. Last time I saw her I had a hotel five minutes away because I’d read about this ‘arrogance’ I guess. It is the ultimate **** you to the people who pay her kids school fees. Not cool.

No excuses. My guess is there is an actual reason why she isn’t on stage at the advertised time, but god knows what it is and why it isn’t sorted earlier. I know she’s suffering from a cold and she’s telling audiences she has tendinitis, but her response to a 12am start time? “A Queen is never late”. It’s right there on her instagram. If she does this in London there’ll be hell to pay.

So I’ve read a lot of fan reports that claim despite the late start, the show was brilliant. However she was heckled about her lateness, there was chants for refunds during the opening and when she dared ask the audience, as she was climbing on to a piano, if they minded if she took a nap... it did not go down well and supposedly she was quite upset at the reaction.
Anyway, she turned up at 10.45 last night.

I hope this bloke gets every penny he's asking for and then some. Every audience member should be in on it. She'd bloody well be on time then!

I'm not even a Madonna fan but this really pisses me off. By comparison, when I saw Cher (a 'diva' superstar who's so many leagues above Madonna I hate to mention her in the same space) she was on time, thanked the audience from the heart (well it seemed genuine anyway!) Entertained the crowd, getting laughs for fifteen minutes, reacting to the room and then putting on one of the best concerts I've ever seen for a tenth of the price if a Madonna ticket.

I'm surprised Live Nation hasn't stepped in to have a word with her about her lateness.

I'm surprised Live Nation hasn't stepped in to have a word with her about her lateness. She’s said her manager keeps asking her to turn up on time (and sing more of her older songs) but she ignores him. At this point she’s her own worst enemy... but last night she turned up at the advertised time (which is still 10.30pm) which is a start.

I know that confidence and arrogance have always been part of Madonna's schtick, but she has just become entirely unappealing this last decade. She could get away with it if the music was fantastic but it's actively bad. It's hard not to imagine that she's making bad decisions on purpose at this point. She's unrecognisable as the artist she once was and she seems too far gone.
Everything I've heard about this tour has exemplified the greed that seems to drive her, from the ticket prices to the laughable VIP packages to the auctioning of the polaroid. It's all most unseemly and even her most ardent of fans must be getting fed up with it now. It's been pleasing to see that many dates have been far from sold out, suggesting there is at least a ceiling for these ever increasing ticket prices we're seeing in the arts.

^^^ totally agree. I’d have defended her to the hilt up until a couple of years ago but it started to turn sour for me with that MDMA tour where she kept us waiting in Birmingham. And then Rebel Heart where we didn’t see the last third of the show because of the late start combined with the arena curfew put the tin lid on it.
She wants to be careful because when people get older (as her fan base is) their tolerance level for this sort of thing drops. It’s all downhill from here love, you need to keep the fans you have left on board, not totally alienate them.

I agree but she shouldn’t get away with it even with the best music ever. You put on a concert, you turn up at start time. Simple as.
Imagine if one of her children wanted urgent medication at the pharmacy. “Sorry, Madge, the pharmacist is going on duty in two hours, maybe four.”

If she's late the audience should get together and put on their own entertainment. And then kick her out when she belatedly turns up for not having a ticket to their show.
