Back in the 80s, there used to be a firm of shopfitters near where I live called GAY DISPLAYS LTD.
It took a surprisingly long time before they changed the name.

A Bristolian expression meaning "great" is "Gurt lush". There's a restaurant in tents here called "Yurt Lush".

Used to love "R Soles" on the Kings Road. Never bought shoes there though! There also used to be a hairdressers in Leeds called "Kurl Up and Dye". I also remember the company I stumbled across in Kenya - OPISS
These are far better than any I could make up!

Love these!
In a similar vein, I love spotting the numberplates on Pimlico Plummer vans. Always makes my day when I see one! Think onlong the lines of W4 TER, LAV 1 etc.

There used to be a cafe attached to the Church of the Heavenly Rest on Fifth Avenue in New York that was called the “Heavenly Rest Stop”. A few years ago, the Australian chain Bluestone Lane took over operation of the cafe from the church, and it is now called the “Heavenly Rest Stop by Bluestone Lane”, which isn’t nearly as amusing.

If anyone understands any Spanish you may be shocked to find that Waitrose is selling an Italian wine with the singularly inappropriate name "Follador".
