This is the trailer for the tour that I presume is going to go to the Picc? Lesley was great in this so would be nice to see her take over from Miranda for the remainder of the run

You know what it is, with this specific Annie and Matilda, it feels like those times when a production comes along that has a clever design, then another show comes along with and uses it as inspiration and makes it incredible! The trouble here is that Annie feels like the lesser one that should of come first.

Miranda would get me to see this, always been put off as singing children annoy me ( Billy elliot being the exception) but Miranda would get me to finally see a production of Annie
Have to hand it to Lesley Joseph though, she really is incredible. The energy and enthusiasm she has at her age

Sadly I'll always be put off Lesley Joseph after one panto season with her...nasty piece of work and a pain in the ass to work with. Oh well, I'll go see it with Miranda, should be a giggle

Would love to see her in a panto. If you don't mind me asking, what panto was that she was "a pain in the ass to work with"?

I've not heard that about Lesley, but there are plenty of actors and actresses who are worshipped on here, and perfectly nice at stage door etc but aren't the same as their public persona

Liza Goddard... She was the Queen of Takeovers, wasn't she? Una Stubbs was the original in this. Then Liza took over from Pauline Collins in No/Yes, Honestly. Sunday nights. What about those who are worshipped on stage and horrid at the stage door? I've had two experiences...

Haha was not speaking in specifics. was just making the point that it is far from uncommon for the public persona to differ to the private one

He was fabulous in the role. But he hated it, supposedly, all those pesky kids! I very much doubt he would do it again!

Ooo we all batching about Lesley Joseph on here? I've had her on a show. She was certainly what some might call difficult, and people who knew her said that she had really mellowed that year.
But I still admired her energy. She lost a lung to cancer 6 years ago, and still charges about doing 12 show weeks on panto.

After seeing Wonderland last week I would love to see Wendi Peters play Miss Hannigan.

This is one of those 'older' shows that I never saw.
I've never even watched the film the whole way through, only snippets, which is amazing given the stellar cast.
And if Miranda Hart's in it, all the more incentive.

Prenger did a stint as miss hannigan on the tour didn't she? She did the three week Oxford run over Christmas! I gor one would love to see Jodie in the role! But she will be on the Shirley Valentine tour until the Summer I believe! She could take over though after her tour in that?

I think the main reason she did it was because both Lesley and Craig (other Hannigans) were both in pantomime during xmas. How long is this revival supposed to run at the Picc?

How long is this revival supposed to run at the Picc? My guess is a six month run, leaving a new show to open in time for he Christmas tourist crowd. But then again, this is a popular name, so it could do a year run and have a new show open in time for the Summer crowd?

Jodie was actually wonderful as Miss Hannigan. I initially went 'eugh' but she was hysterically funny, and sang it well enough.
I'm so excited for this.

Because this show fills the family niche and has kids involved, I'm afraid it could run and run....

Because this show fills the family niche and has kids involved, I'm afraid it could run and run.... I doubt ATG would want this to run and run? Could be wrong but I think it will do well as a limited run instead of opened - maybe until Jan 2018? It did amazingly well on tour so demand will be there because of the family demographic

I always saw this as a filler until Finding Neverland/Waitress/whatever long-term show is in mind for the Picc transfers, however if Annie ends up doing phenomenally well I could see them extending it, or even transferring to another venue ala Guys & Dolls, if something else books the Picc in the meantime. It'll go on another tour once it's finished in the West End too.

No theatre for them either now Picc and Drury Lane are taken. Gary is probably also more focussed with The Girls and The Band rather than FN now - shows he's been more involved in from the start along with his best pal, Tim Firth (for The Girls anyway). Think G&D just transferred to the Phoenix because BILB flopped? It was greed tho that made them relocate. Think it will definitely tour again afterwards

It was mentioned on here a week or so ago that Finding Neverland had ben delayed due to the producer taking time out to deal with a family bereavement so there has actually been news if you checked your info. Im not saying it will end up here. Just that theres a very good reason its not opened as scheduled.

I saw Elaine C Smith as Miss Hannigan on the tour last year (she did all the Scottish dates - Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen) and she was excellent but I highly doubt she would get cast in a West End production of it, is she even known in England ?? Everyone knows her in Scotland. Miranda would fit this role very well I think, and she is about 6ft1 so it would be funny seeing her towering over all the 4ft little girls.

I'm new to this board so chances are I haven't seen that comment a few weeks ago. Still, I just said I highly doubt it will happen. Gary will probably focus on his other two shows

I would really like to see Miranda in this role. However, saw the tour before so have no real desire to see the show again. And I don't think Elaine C Smith is as well known in England as she is in Scotland. It was an incredible smart move for the producers to have her do Scotland tho

Jodie Prenger was terrific in Oxford.
It's a Michael Harrison production and he's got at least 2 other major productions looking for a West End house later in the year so if Annie can run through to September or even January he has shows he will no doubt be looking to bring in to town once Annie has run it's limited engagement.

It was an incredible smart move for the producers to have her do Scotland tho I think it was the best bit of casting they did on the whole tour! She is a household name in Scotland having done many televisions comedies and theatre shows and she was a regular in many of the big pantomimes here also. I went twice, 2 Tuesday evening over the 2 week run and it was sold out both shows which I could confidently say was due to her being in the show. Something also makes me think she did an early version of 'Calendar Girls' or 'The Girls' in the back of my mind but I'll have to look that up. After Miranda I would love to see Jodie do it, she is still one of the few known west end names and would still sell tickets off the back of her name even though her show was a while back now!
