I must say, Liam Doyle was great singing You Will Be Found at Musical Marathon, so wouldn't be angry about him getting it! He was literally BEGGING for that part. He even brought his own arm sling too! And another plus point, you'll be able to see his big old moon face from the very back of the balcony as well. Note: He did also sing it rather well to be fair.

*cue Liam Doyle phoning agent* Happy to champion Mr Doyle for anything appropriate but I don't think he's awkward enough for this. I'd rather some fantastic graduate made a name for themself here. Oh I have no problem with Liam Doyle as an actor I think he is great, its just he has made no secret about the fact he wants to be in this. That was my only point.

Nooo I was chatting to him after and he said that he'd actually dislocated his shoulder. I think that Paul (Taylor-Mills) got him to sing Dear Evan Hansen as a kind of amusing irony. He would be a great Evan though.

Groundhog Day is by far more complex and intellectual than DEH, a mesh of Next to Normal meets the film World's Best Dad.

I woudln't take his comments too seriously. No source, its just rumours. Plus the only theatre it could really go into with its design is somewhere like the New London as it change design of the auditorium for different productions all the time.

While it would probably be easier to convert the New London for Comet, I don't why it shouldn't go into a regular theatre. It's in a regular theatre on Broadway too, which has been turned inside out (and upside down) for this production.

There are only a handful of theatres that only have one circle in London. Sightlines, unless dramatically altered would be awful in a 'regular' theatre. Also the New London is 'regular'.

Of all the new Best Musical nominees, Comet it the one I see least likely to transfer. Cast is huge and I just don't see it having the appeal over here.

How huge is huge? I saw it in December and can't recall the cast being unusually big. I think it could have more appeal than DEH. The one with most appeal is Groundhog Day, and that has its publicity work made for it in London already.

I imagine if The Great Comet is planning to tour in the US, they'll likely redesign the show to work in the huge barns and that would be the blueprint for potential international productions

Comet's creative team have been involved with creating work over here for a while, so not surprised that they are looking at a London productiion. Given that the superor (to my mind) Next to Normal hasn't got here I would be surprised if DEH prospers, to me the score is generic and a big come down from Hamilton's. Given a show like Spring Awakening's lack of success here it would be a brave producer believing that they could tap into a similar market.

Remember there are people up in the mezzanine at many times too. vs 18 for Come from Away (includes 6 standbys), 13 for Evan Hansen (includes 5 standbys) and 24 for Groundhog Day.

Well, everything about Come From Away was simple and pedestrian, so I don't think it sets the benchmark.
Yes, Comet might be expensive to mount. The theatre will have to be repurposed, probably requires special licensing for safety codes, and the costumes also look like they're worth a high price tag. But it's a fabulous show and a great night out.

Well, tbh I don't care into which theatre Comet goes as long as it comes over School of Rock seems to be doing okay, but I doubt it will have a VERY long run, so if it's the ugly New London Theatre for Comet, so be it. I think it would have quite some appeal - it has curiosity value because it's so crazy and over the top and is different from everything else (which is probably its USP on Broadway too). War and Peace is somewhat known, not least thanks to the recent BBC adaptation. It may also bring some curious Russian tourists in. I'm quite sure it has more appeal than Evan Hansen, which couldn't be more American if you painted Ben Platt in the stars and stripes.

I think DEH has way more appeal than great Comet. DEH will pull in all the teens and younger people who will claim it's the best thing ever and cry every time they see it.
Great Comet, unless it gets someone with name recognition like Josh Groban, will barely survive. Curiosity doesn't get people in paying lots of money

But it's a fabulous show and a great night out. See I couldn't warm to Great Comet at all and found it rather underwealming and self indulgent. Come From Away however I thought was much stronger, the time flew by! I think there is a place in London for all the current Tony nominees for best musical, but Comet and CFA would definitely be the hardest sells. CFA is a very basic set and could potentially do a limited run. Great comet would need to go for a long run.

Only problem is that London theatre, from what I see, and I tend to see a lot, hardly has any teens or young people in attendance. I would say the majority of people tend to be in their late 20s and above.

Maybe that's not a problem — maybe it's an audience ripe to be tapped into.
Also, it DEH could scoop up all the kids who couldn't afford a ticket to Hamilton.

I still don't understand why there has never been a London production of Next To Normal... we're getting a production in September here in Spain, and trust me, Spain is the country of Jukebox Musicals (It's a shame that we're getting The Bodyguard before Wicked tbh)

Ok so always one to follow the popular vote I've just listened to the soundtrack and I've just put it on again... this is totally up my catchy street!
When it transfers (assuming it will!) would Ben Platt not transfer with it ala Idina/Wicked?!
**Corrected my BoM error!
