I got caught up in the new booking period frenzy yesterday for Harry Potter in my lunch break and spent £300 on tickets. Only today when I come to look at the seats they are restricted view and a shocker! I’ve been given an email address to write to where apparently they’ll swap the seats but this is pretty ropey ground isn’t it? If you weren’t seat savvy you’d just turn up and have your day ruined by the quite frankly ‘f*ckoff huge’ speaker stack in the way, no doubt to be told that they were full and theres no where to move you to. How they can charge £75 for those seats is worthy of a paliamentary debate itself!

The booking process itself offers no choice of anything. You’re meant to be grateful for them allowing you to book the tickets! How many on what date...thats it. I’m 6’4” so if up threw up any of the front row circle seats without a warning I’d be screwed too!

Update: I’ve spoken to my bank who say that I shoud first give atg the chance to act, but otherwise report it to STAR and they will issue a refund notice to ATG.

You used to be able to cancel HP tickets easily enough but it appears they've changed their policy recently.

What possible reason can there be for not allowing people to choose their own seats?

They’ve emailed saying that it isn’t restricted view (errrrrm yeh huh!) but I’m welcome to change seats. I’ve given them my requirements and it will no doubt be another 3 days before I hear back.

Well, as of yesterday they are refusing to refund. They can’t offer me anything with a modicum of leg room that is unrestricted. I can re-sell on their terms a fortnight before or suck it up and sit in the undeclared restricted view seats they sold me. For £300. Of money. Refund through my bank it is then...

Can we ask which seats you’re talking about? Between us maybe someone could offer a first hand experience of the said seats that could alleviate any doubts you have.

Thanks Kevin, but it isn’t really about that any more. If they can’t be honest with people from the outset why should I give them £300?! (But from memory, I think J 2/3 Stalls).

I think I sat in E2 last time I saw the show (these seats advertised as restricted view) and it was fine. Only missed a tiny slither of the stage.

The legroom is going to be a little tight, but you have an aisle seat, which helps. You may lose some side stage action but I don't think it will be that terrible danb. I thought you had far worse seats than that. Is the view restricted or not? People have mentioned speakers being in the way; hanging and onstage. Is this not the case? Cos I’ll stop whinging if not.

Cheers monkey, doesn’t sound too awful tbh. Might have to suck this one up.
