poster j,You stated that because I was giving a different opinion to the original poster,I was ‘effectively’ (in your words) telling them that they were incorrect in their views. This is extremely judgemental and an incorrect understanding of my ‘tone’ on your part. When I posted the single word “Really?”, it was because I was genuinely stunned that the poster felt that there was any comparison between the original performance by a world legend and Ms Warren’s effort.I was interested to know WHICH of Tina’s many recordings of the song had the poster listened to as,admittedly, they vary in quality. To make a comparison and thus form an opinion,I queried what specifically the comparison was between. This is a valid request I feel and this simple question remains unanswered by you or the original poster! I know what I meant in terms of my first post and there was no attempt to belittle or patronise a fellow board member.I am sure that other board members are bored out of their skulls with this increasingly trivial dialogue on the thread so I will not respond to ANY further comments at all on this matter and instead accede to your greater knowledge and busy myself with more important matters in my life such as watching paint dry!🤭

We will have to agree to differ, poster J but I will say that facts tend to add weight and gravitas to opinion. Also my original question (see previous posts) has still not been answered...twice!!! The fact is that Tina is the original and Ms Warren is a mimic. Finally please do not try to shut me down in this thread as you have tried to do. I've already answered this, from the previous page: So, I am specifically referring to what I believe are both the studio records of those songs. Adrienne is sustaining those notes longer, clearer and belting harder than Tina did. However, of course it doesn't really matter because Tina is the original and the whole appeal of Tina is her distinct, unique, scratchy voice. And it doesn't matter how well Adrienne sings these songs, given the context in which they are being sung they will always be seen as an impersonation. However, from a pure performance point of view, I am so glad Adrienne's performance has been captured because I am really enjoying hearing this very strong take on these songs. Not sure why the emotions are flying so "high" here (pardon the pun). I'm just describing my experience.

Sometimes the intent behind posts can be mis-read. Let’s not make an argument out of what everyone agrees are two undeniably fabulous performers please, and move the conversation on.
I’m taking some friends to see the show in the summer. I wasn’t fussed about going back myself and pleased I saw Adrienne in the role but they’re both looking forward to it. What do we know about the new Tina?

Sending very best wishes to Nkeki, the new Tina from this week. You go girl!!!She has met with the real Tina herself so I am sure she will have had lots of words of encouragement from the great legend.

I hope it’s going well for Nkeki. Has anyone here seen her as Tina yet? My sis in law went last week with her work and said she really enjoyed the show but didn’t have anything to compare it to as it was the first time she saw it. She did say her colleague who has seen it before, felt it wasn’t quite as tight as previously when she saw it, but I guess with new leads and fairly new cast that’s understandable.

2 stars. Seat E3 in the dress circle. £130 ticket down to £25.
0.5 stars for the fabulous interiors of the Aldwych theatre 0.5 stars for the encore 1 star for simply the best
Nkeki is a great singer. She wasn't giving me Tina though, didn't get much Tina until the high energy ending. Wish I got to see the show before the cast change, judging from earlier posts I would have enjoyed it a lot more!
The first half is dreadful. I was oscillating between deep sleep and going deaf for the duration of it. Latter part of the second half saves the show.
Oh honey. Imagine if you paid £130 for this. Ohhhhhhhhh honeeeeey. The scam of the century. For £25 I'm still not sure if it was money well spent.

Plenty of people have enjoyed this as well if you look back through the thread, but base your judgment on one review if you want, your prerogative...! I shall see it in good time.. I’ll probably even try for rush tickets tonight. Merely said I was happy I’d chosen Book of Mormon. Although, it certainly looks like Adrienne is sorely missed and the show has fallen flat without her, and that’s not coming just from the one review, but from at least a few other peoples prerogative...! 🤣

Saw this again on Monday with a Lucky Dip ticket. And enjoyed it more second time around.
Was there unfashionably early as the booking said the latest time to collect was at 7pm. So I was there in case they did the allocations live. But they were already allocated and I had an excellent seat in the centre of the second row Stalls. Perfect place to sit for this as the stage is low.
Aisha Jawando was on as Tina (the alternate). Excellent and many times better than the person I saw play the role last year.
I think this is better second time around as you realise it's not going to be a particularly great jukebox musical and you can just enjoy it for what it is. The other change was the audience was much better behaved (or all the noisy ones were much further back). There was some kind of raised voice argument going on at the back of the Stalls in the first half and the odd phone, but these were mostly drowned out by the music.
Would be interesting to see how the Lucky Dip ticket allocation compares with that for the Rush tickets.

I saw Aisha last year and thought she was fine, but nothing outstanding.

Ah, that's interesting. Funnily enough I saw her years ago in an unofficial Tina musical that predated this once, called "Soul Sister" - she was the alternate in that one too.
It's a living!

I was there Monday too and had no idea who was playing Tina (got there just in time—didn't get to see cast changes)—thanks for clearing that up! And I can attest to the badly behaved audience towards the back...all the arguing and phones and singing along seemed to be in my row Not sure if it was all of the distractions or the lost light that is Adrienne Warren but I enjoyed it more the first time around, though it did pick up in the second half and Aisha Jawando really has a lovely voice.

I saw Tina for the first time a couple of weeks ago in London and I was surprised at all the onstage costume changes where you could see the wigs being ripped off. At one point a wig actually rolled across the stage. Has anyone else noticed that and thinks its a bit sloppy?

Does anyone know why the OLC hasn't been released on CD? (And if there are plans to?)
You'd think they'd at least want something physical to sell in the theatre along with the 50 quid programmes....

LOL - it wasn't actually 50 quid - but they were EXTORTIONATE. Much like the ticket prices.

TodayTix are doing Rush tickets which are £25. Anytime I’ve looked, I’ve only managed to get back of Grand Circle on these, so never bothered, or, you can get £35 tickets here: tinathemusical.com/uk/thirtyfive/
