Stephanie was Idina’s understudy and the ensemble during the San Fransisco tryout of Wicked, she did go on once. You can hear her in the ensemble in the naughty recording of the SF tryout... Allegedly.

I hope The Prom wins EVERY awards there is. Great nomination list. Stephanie J Block don’t get for Cher Show but she will eventually - same as Glen Close and the Oscars.

Surprised to see all the love for Ain’t Too Proud. I kinda wish I’d seen it now, although it seems it may be one of those shows we eventually get in London. Pleased that Kong was nominated for some of the technical categories - they are well deserved. Best Actress in a Musical has Stephanie’s name on it already. I am not the NYT loved it. Its a critics pick. With so many bad juke box. Its good to see a decent one get noms. Personally from videos I did not like SJB that much. Amazed Beetlejuice got nominated. They could have just had four noms. But Beetlejuice did not get the terrible reviews I thought it would. It got more mixed like wicked

I personally don’t think SJB deserves to win the Tony for the Cher Show. If she wasn’t a beloved MT star who has never won before and is therefore now in the “it’s her time” bracket I don’t think she’d really be in the running.

Thanks; I actually saw Wicked in San Francisco pre-Broadway, but my playbill is across the country.

I think the category is a strange one though. Caitlin and Beth are both “leading” but The Prom feels very much like a whole company driven show. Kelli only recently won, and is by all accounts good in the role but it’s been done before. Eva I’m surprised was even nominated. This puts SJB as the clear favourite in my eyes.

I actually really enjoyed her performance in The Wife and thought she was pretty deserving of the Oscar this year! But then I really disliked The Favourite, so ..... 😄 It just really bothers me, and always has, when a performer (be it at the Tonys, Oscars etc) wins the awards mainly for the reason it’s about time they won the award! It often means a performance that might be more deserving misses out, which isn’t fair imo. Sure that could mean a great great actor or actress could continually miss out, but that’s just the way it goes, and that’s what lifetime achievement awards are for right?!

I just love Stephanie and I think her loss for Falsettos pissed alot of people off, enough for alot of people to want her to win for this one, even if it is just a fine performance. Intriguing question though, if she didn't have that factor on her side, who of the five nominees would win the award based on performance alone? Beth Level?

Caitlyn is a surprise nominee so no one is really predicting her to win. If we took Kelli and SJB aside, their shows were not that loved at all by the Tony nominators so, for me anyway, the obvious winner if not SJB, is Beth. Just me? 😂

If The Cher Show wins any Tonys can Cher count that as her T in her EGOT?

If The Cher Show wins any Tonys can Cher count that as her T in her EGOT? no as it has nothing to do with her other than it being her story. If it was nominated for Score, then yes it would be her Tony, but otherwise not. Is she a Producer for the show? if the show was nominated for Musical, she would of been nominated for that as a producer.

Do we know if "The Cher Show" and "Be More Chill" will pay to perform on the telecast? Getting Cher to perform will be a big get and "Be More Chill" will draw the youth crowd.
Can we start predicting what numbers will be performed?

Can we start predicting what numbers will be performed? Cher's will no doubt perform, there's no way that won't happen. I don't think Be More Chill will. It's not doing very well so I'm intirgued to see whether they could afford to do it or if it would be worth the risk of paying for it for little pay off, because it won't draw that much of an extra audience for that show.

It was a long shot she'd be nominated, but I do believe both Samantha Barks and Christiani Pitts deserved to be nominated. Some others who have been missed are George Salazar for Be More Chill and Chris Sieber for The Prom

But then the Broadway.com Audience Awards will come and it'll get a whole bunch of noms. 😂

I wouldn't say Pretty Woman got screwed TBH as it really wasn't that great... But I did love Samantha in it.

I thought she was fab in The Prom. I haven’t seen Kiss Me Kate so can’t speak for Kelli’s performance and I saw only Eva in the London Hadestown, although gorgeous voice aside her performance wasn’t particularly standout for me. So yeah, when you narrow it down, I’d say Beth and SJB are the two frontrunners!

I feel like the problem with Samantha Barks in Pretty Woman is that, no matter how good she is in it, she’s not Julia Roberts, and she’s never gonna have the utter charm that Julia has in that movie! And even though this is a musical, people will always compare, even if subconsciously.

Glenda Jackson's King Lear is the first show to call it quits because the Tony Awards. I think Be More Chill and sadly The Prom are probably next.
