I saw this last night after watching numerous times in the West End, and whilst I appreciate they have to make a show that works well to tour with, this is not it. The show was already minimal on set but the lack of screens really cheapens the entire thing. It looks like a high school show. The cast are good, but not a patch on the West End cast in my opinion. And this show is one that I think relies on a strong company otherwise it just doesn’t work. Oh, I too was there last night and I think the cast are leaps and bounds above the cast we had in town, with the exceptions of Charlie, Elena Gyasi and Zoe Rainey! Standouts for me were Georgie Buckland as Janis and Sophie Pourret as Karen, Vivian was a brilliant Regina, I did not enjoy Georgina Castle’s Regina so it was great to have a lead I like. I was really pleasantly surprised with how strong the main cast all are.

I thought she absolutely embodied Regina so brilliantly and Vivian just didn’t do it for me as much. Georgie might be the only exception. I thought they were brilliant. But the plastics, Cady, Damian, Duvall, Mrs George, Kevin G, Aaron were not as strong in my personal opinion. All brilliant, I just didn’t get the excitement I got from the other actors in the West End as much as I did. Perhaps it’s due to the production value. Anyway, it was a show I very much enjoyed in London, but I won’t be returning to the tour.

I could not stand Georgina’s Regina, I thought she sang it nicely and looked incredible but I was far from wowed every time!

Hi, I’m new here but I just wanted to create an post saying that anyone going to the show today, you’ll have Sadie Levett as Janis Sarkasian for both shows today! I’m sure she’ll be incredible!

I notice folks here talking about the lack of screens, did they change the bus crash scene for the tour?

I notice folks here talking about the lack of screens, did they change the bus crash scene for the tour? Yes. A cut out/scale model of an American school bus (from the front facing view) now appears from the back of the stage and heads towards Regina. It has flashing lights and they play a beeping sound as it approaches. Different to how it was done before. There’s no projection of Regina flying in the air anymore. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, it’s hard to explain how it looks without seeing it!

Saw this last night and overall really enjoyed it. It's certainly a stellar cast who are at least the equal of, and in some cases better than, their West End counterparts. I say that very much as a compliment to the touring company, especially Emily Lane and Georgie Buckland as Cady and Janis. Georgie in particular has a magnetic stage presence and her solo vocals, and duets with Emily, were phenomenal. The score grows on me more each time I hear it. It's such a shame though that the set has had a substantial downgrade which cheapens the whole production. Even the pre-show stuff on the screens that set the tone for proceedings was missed! A five-star cast, four-star show and two-star set is how I'd sum things up.

I'm hoping to go in Woking in April ot May but the cheapest seats are over £40, even for the worst seats in the house.
Since it isn't selling too well, does anyone know if/when the prices could be reduced?
Thanks!

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, it’s hard to explain how it looks without seeing it! Disappointing, it seems they copied the Second US Tour version for this version of the scenes, in my opinion the shock factor in both the film and to a lesser extent the West End Version was that the bus crash happens in the moment without the breathing room. The Slow motion cardboard cut out bus doesn't work as well for this. I also think vocally from what I've heard the actress playing Regina is pretty great but the musical version of the character is toned down a lot, a lot of people raved about Renee Rapp in the role and while she has a great voice and is stunning I can't help but feel Regina being less of a caricature doesn't work for the musical version especially compared to the more broad comedy that Rachel McAdams delivered at points in the original film. It's a fun show with some catchy songs in my opinion but Karen and Gretchen are better fleshed out in the musical than Regina is.

I managed to bag a bargain seat for this on Twickets this morning after balking at the prices actually being charged for it. I managed to last until the interval. It is like a school play. They do very well to disguise it at first through some tight choreography/scene changing/table turning that helps the first half hour whizz by. Emily Lane rises to the top performance wise, just by being bright and appealing, likewise Fayefromsteps who at least gets to demonstrate different things with her 3 characters. Thats not to say that anyone is bad, they just have so little to do, and what they do get to do is just them on a bare stage. If you’re Karen or Damian its fine as you have amusing stuff to say, but the script is so bare bones & sparse that scenes feel laboured and endless. We had the cover Janice who was fine but didn’t really fly. Vivian Panka’s Regina George was only ok, and appeared to have been directed to dial it back. It was like nobody really cared on any level, and just by being upbeat & spunky Lane takes the flowers. £20 is all this is worth I’m afraid.

Why not use the screens? I assume they still have them from the Savoy and the costs in the screen is not the physical screen but developing what is shown on the screen, which was done for Broadway. That bus looked absolutely naff. Good money gets made from touring and it’s time to treat the market with the respect it deserves.

What do they use instead of the screens? When I went, they did 90% of the staging.
