It’s a shame there’s a lot of negativity on here about this show. Each to their own of course, but even accounting for the period Covid meant they had to close, it’s not had a bad run and it has a lot of fans. I loved it when I saw it in Jan 2020 pre-pandemic. I’m sure with the show being packed full of such popular songs it’ll do very well on tour.

I looked up when I saw it and it was exactly 3 years ago yesterday, so if it makes it to March then it will indeed have spanned about 3.5 years.
But not all of that time was “in the West End.” And obviously there would have been multiple closures in that time also.
Sounds good on a press release though I s’pose 🙄

I wonder if the producers decided to close or if the Shaftesbury had Mrs Doubtfire lined up.

Wouldn't a more accurate assessment of the success of a run in these post lockdown times be the number of performances given? I imagine by the time it closes next March & Juliet will have given about 700 performances which must be counted as a success for this feel-good show!
It would be equally interesting to know the number of performances given for Come From Away and Dear E H. Does anyone know how one can glean such info?

Sad to see this go but not surprised - it had a decent run. I’ve seen it twice and will definitely be trying to catch it again before closing.
Thinking of the shows that opened in the West End around the start of the pandemic, surely it’s time for Pretty Woman to go soon?

I saw this again on Wednesday and really enjoyed it, far more than I did when I first saw it, back when it opened.
Miriam was on and I thought she was great. She has obviously learnt over the shows run when she can rely on ensemble to cover vocals and not have to belt everything 100% of the time, like she originally was. Oliver Thompsett is exactly as he was before and we had Collette Guitart on as Ann. I thought she did a wonderful job. She might not have the vocal power of Cassidy Janson, but she certainly got the emotion across and had a great personality. Joe Foster as May is a vast improvement on the original May and thankfully has a great voice. His Northern accent came as a bit of a surprise too. Nicolas Colicos has been around a long time and he's still got the comedy skills and that great voice. His Lance isn't as hammy a David Badella was and he has great chemistry with Malinda Parris as Nurse.
The stalls were 85% full and the show got a great reception at the end, but it wasn't a huge surprise to hear the following morning that the show was closing, albeit in 6 months time
It was also nice to see some of the extensive building works that the Shaftesbury is undergoing, providing a venue that is modern and has more facilities than before.

Is the last show sold out or not released? The matinee on the closing day has so many seats left...

I was there last night and the new stalls bar is open. Also they now have an accessibility lift for access to stalls. They’ve combined the former ladies and gents stalls toilets to a ladies with the gents now in the bar area.

I wish they'd tone down the music pre-show. Maybe the music here isn't really my thing so the volume was almost headache-inducing.
Some good performances all around and Tom Francis's voice is one of the standouts for me, which I'm missing from the cast recording.
Does anyone know if the Shaftesbury merch shop is accessbile outside show times / for non-ticketholders? I forgot to pick up a magnet.

Does anyone know if there is an &Juliet piano/vocal selections book available? I’m guessing not as I can’t find one and it being jukebox, but I thought I’d ask. I enjoy noodling on the piano to my favourite musical scores and I’ve got a few &Juliet moments earworming like crazy at the moment!

How curious - you'd think there would be, but I can't find anything either. Maybe this is difficult to put together, because, even though the songs are all nominally by the 'same person', there's a lot of co-writers involved too, and I imagine that clearing the rights with everybody was a big enough ask for the show, which they at least were definitely guaranteed to make some money from. I'm not sure how much money there is in piano/vocal selections when there would be so many people to divide the royalties between - and I presume the royalties are fairly low on these sorts of books anyway?

…but lots of the arrangements are substantially different from the original versions, meaning that there might be sn argument for somehow publishing them somehow/somewhere?

Saw this again last night, still love it.
The only thing for me is still the lead, she spends half the time hunched over acting/singing from her shoulders.

Does anybody keep a record of how many performances of & Juliet have been given over the past three years? I see Come From Away is about to hit the big 1000

I don't know if I've ever seen anyone say they enjoyed Miriam as Juliet. I wonder why we've never had a replacement. I can't say I thought she was bad when I went, but the alternates I've seen were far more enjoyable.
