Yes it is a masterpiece of considered construction but how will it fare against the more visceral Play that goes wrong

I saw the Lindsay Posner production at the Old Vic in 2011, and I didn't think it was funny at all. Judging by the reactions of people around me, I was in a minority. It's the only time I have seen the play, and I wondered if the problem was the production or the material itself.

It calls it a “ bold new production”. Herrin is a good director but I’m racking my brains as to how you could do anything with the play to make it appear ‘bold’.

I've seen the last two West End productions (Piccadilly / Comedy and Old Vic / Novello) and it's just a play that I can't get on with unfortunately. I was completely in the minority both times and I really wanted to love it but whilst I really admired its technical brilliance, I just didn't find it as funny as everyone else on either occasion. My loss.

That’s the only production I’ve seen and remember enjoying it but not quite as much as my fellow theatre goers.

im really excited to hear this, and its nice for it to be going into its original theatre, especially since i always seem to forget about the LH.
I really like the play and havent seen it live before (watching the most recent revival with megan hilty online doesnt count..!) so im happy to hear this news.

I'm booked - never one to miss an opportunity to see it! I do wonder if it's only initially scheduled for four weeks, there's nothing confirmed up yet afterwards at the Lyric, so guess it could extend by another few weeks?
Then there'll be, I suspect, a transfer already pencilled in.

I've never been to the Lyric Hammersmith before and the tickets are suspiciously cheap! The front row is only £15, and looking at reviews on SeatPlan the view looks pretty good!

Yeah, I always sit front row of the Lyric Hammersmith for £15, and the only complaint I've ever had is when they flooded the stage for Herons and I ended up RIGHT in the splash zone. Definitely recommend!

Just seen third preview. It is still very definitely in previews. Act 1 lacks a lot of pace, which lead to huge sections of no laughter from the audience.
Still enjoyable, as Noises Off pretty much always will be, but far from polished at this stage.

I thought it was decent, Act 1 was only mildly amusing but that's no different to the last production. It's normally the second act where everything kicks off. That was also true here though I thought the behind the scenes section wasn't as strong as I've seen it before. Once they switched back to the front of house though it came together and was once again very funny.
Cast wise this wasn't as successful as the Old Vic. Standouts for me were Daniel Rigby & Lloyd Owen, less successful were Meera Syal, Amy Morgan and Jonathan Cullen. None of them were bad, they just haven't quite nailed it yet but it's still early.

Change this now if you’re reading, team: the creaking sound for the microphone to announce how long is left before curtain up. Very unnecessary.

The Celia Imrie / Janie Dee production of Noises Off was hysterical and very, very impressive but I'm just not excited enough to book for this.

Left at the interval. Auditorium is disgustingly hot (emailing people beforehand telling them this and asking them to bring water does not excuse it) and it just drags. Maybe acts two and three were brilliant but I was almost falling asleep.
