I am sure Billie Piper will take best actress
The role is very similar stylistically to PPP
It is an excellent performance
And she deserves it
I think it is a harder role to play than Hester Collyer as well although Helen McCrory is a truly excellent actress

Best Actress I think could be:
•Billie Piper •Glenda Jackson •Helen McCrory
Then possibly Norma Dumezwemi or Lily James?

Chicago was/is a semi staged production and won both the Oliver and Tony.
Lily James didn't get good reviews.

After seeing it tonight, I would like The Bodyguard to receive (being realistic too) a nomination for Beverley Knight. I could see that happening, and well deserved too! Also I wouldn't be surprised if it picked up a Best Lighting Design nom too, as I was really impressed there! I don't think it will get a Revival nod personally, which is a shame as I would like it too. But it was only nominated for Best New Musical three years ago (four years by the time 2017 comes) which is not long ago. Also, despite some changes for the better, it is very much the same production as the original, so nothing has really been revived, it has just come back to London after going on tour for a bit.

It likely won't get any nominations since it's a return engagement and not a revival. Beverly Knight getting a nomination is a long shot.

Oh I completely agree, I think it getting any nominations is a long shot in all honesty. But being realistic, if it were to be nominated for anything, I think it would be either lighting or Beverley, if anything.

Maybe there should be a new category for keeping massive houses occupied for more than one night a week

Not 42nd Street that was 'rumoured' to go into the Theatre Royal or even best musical Wind in the Willows that is all set for the London Palladium? But then again we are all not so lucky to be connected as you are! Hope you are chocking on your words now.

Thinking about it, maybe Marilyn Cutts could be nominated in the best actress in a supporting role in a musical for Funny Girl? Seeing as she's probably the best one in the whole show (along with Joel Montague) it would only be fair if she was.

Funny Girl has five deserving and possible acting nominations... Best Actress (Sheridan) Best Actress (Natasha) Best Actor (Darius) Best Supporting Actress (Marilyn) Best Supporting Actor (Joel) ... all five of them deserve a nomination as they are all fantastic. I can see two of them not getting a nomination and that would be Joel as I think he may get sidelined as it is quite an underrated role even though he is fantastic! And Natasha as even though she does deserve a nomination alongside Sheridan, I don't know if nominators would of gone back to see her in the role and therefore she may get sidelined because of that. Also, because she was still listed as Understudy rather than Replacement too then that could be an issue regarding her nabbing a nomination.

The nomination will be Sheridan's. Which one was Marilyn?

Marilyn played Sheridan's Mother in the show.

I highly doubt they would put Natasha up for nomination. Why would they pit the two against each other? Isn't it a tad insulting to Sheridan? Marilyn was good, but is it a showy enough part? Darius will definitely get a look-in, I expect!

Plus, Sheridan is already popular with alot of people and I think coming back after her break may actually help her chances in the long run too.

Amber, Sheridan and Glenn are all in "award magnet" roles so which way it goes will be anyone's guess!

On the other hand Lily James is famous and was on TV. So if she agrees to attend the awards ceremony she'll at least be nominated. You do not jest. The Olivier fixers will certainly nominate her, which is a shame because it means that those of us who didn't see her in the show will have no idea whether or not her performance merited the nomination. The Oliviers are now utterly devalued by their commercial fixing, and not worth anyone's serious attention, except for theatrical producers and investors.

No disrespect to Lily though, I have enjoyed her on interviews and Cinderella, but is she really that famous yet to merit an automatic nomination?

Nope, that's definitely the way the Oliviers have gone over the last few years. Look at all the reports from public panellists and critics, how narrowed their choices are and how little their opinions are worth these days. Shame, but what can we do?

I'd love a set and costume design after seeing Breakfast at Tiffany's, its a great design all round. A long shot but if they are going for a famous face to nab a nomination, I wouldn't mind it being Pixie. Very outside chance but still haha!
